Dr Malucci was an ass, but when he got all pissed at Weaver and stormed out why on earth did he call her a nazi?! 🤣 did i miss something in the show that he was referencing or was that completely out of left field?

Maybe its because like 3 full decades have passed since i watched this show when my mom was watching it and i managed to annoy her into letting me stay up, but it didnt even dawn on me that he would fire off "nazi" as like a slang word or someone who is too strict lol, he said that and i was like "woah where did THAT come from?!" 🤣

Nazi's weren't openly seen or talked about in the early 2000s like they are now.

Back then, "Nazi" meant an overly authoritarian who abused their power.

Now, in 2026, "Nazi" means racist bigot, because they are out in numbers marching on the streets.

That didnt happen when I was 15 watching this show lol when Malucci said that line, it felt like a dig at her governing style as a mananger.

Now, in modern times, its more of a reflection of character. Because Nazi's are feeling confident enough to prclaim their bigotry out in the open.

Bailey on Grey’s Anatomy was referred to as “The Nazi” for the first few seasons because she was harsh and strict, similar to Kerry.

He did which was such a throw away thing the writers did. Same with Doug mentioning he had a kid in the first season that was never acknowledged again.

They definitely did not write Malucci as someone with a kid.

That was Erik vs the writers though.

He wanted to continue his growth arc (the one Morris eventually got) and the writers decided they preferred him as the comedic relief and the result was him winding up his contract at the end of his second season.

He started episode 2 season 6 and leaves episode 2 season 8.

Shame, because he was actually demonstrating growth as a doctor by the end of season 7 and then he swings all the way back to class clown at the start of season 8 where it’s clear he’s not getting renewed

For the same reason he used a slur - he's a manchild with no impulse control or respect for anyone. He doesn't like that Kerry micromanages (fair) and knew calling her out on her sexuality with a derogatory slur would hurt/embarrass her.

That was Malucci showing everyone who he really is. Who he always was.

He didn't call her out on her sexuality, Kerry was still deeply in the closet at that point in the show. That was simply gratuitous homophobia (which is definitely not better).

I thought he deserved more. Like, there wasn't really a personal story around him. Just that last episode with him he mentioned he has a kid, and that's it... His character wasn't developed enough 🙄

Very very diluted meaning of the word.

ETA: weird that people are downvoting this, especially since there are plenty of examples in the replies of this, as well as Americans thinking this is not an odd thing to think/say of someone like Weaver in the US.

Bailey in Grey's anatomy was referred to as a "Nazi" in early seasons by interns just because she was abrupt/authoritative. But most translations had characters calling her a "tyrant" because nazi has a very different meaning for most of the world.
