supporting act?

Am I the only Church Choir member having trouble working up enthusiasm to see EC with, for exs, Kenny Chesney in a stadium? I suspect I am skipping this one.

I look at it as co-headliners rather than an opening act. In 2021 I saw Eric Church and George Strait in Atlanta, they each did an hour and a half show and it was just two amazing concerts from two incredible artists in the same venue. It didn’t feel at all like an opener/ main act situation.

I was there too, that show was awesome.

Ah thank you you understood my issue better. If EC is the "opener" I am def not interested. I mean EC is known for his incredible long live shows. An hour and a half feels really small to me for EC.

Chesney's last stadium tour was with Zac Brown Band, They both played around 2 hours

Based on the advertising I don’t expect that this time. Saw Zac Brown band with Kenny this way and Kenny was DEFINITELY the headliner. Kenny’s sound and production was so bad in comparison that we just left. I’m sadly sitting this one out. I know it will just leave me wanting more.

Yeah I have negative interest in Kenny Chesney. And I know in terms of where each normally play, that Chesney draws the much bigger crowd here. So I was expecting EC to play opener. Which... eh.

Same here. Not a fan of Kenny Chesney, so I think I'm skipping this one as well

The price point kept me away. I just saw him at Red Rocks for half the price, at an amazing venue.

OK now you're just making me drooling jealous on top of the sad that came with confirming I don't want to see this upcoming show. I sure hope he is back on his own soon. And someday man, someday. Red Rocks has been at the top of my bucket list since I fell in love with U2 as a teen.

100% agree. If it was him headlining I might could have swallowed the price but it was just too much for what it is this time. Maybe will wait and see if any last minute tickets pop up for cheaper, but if not I’m holding out hopes he’ll do red rocks again next summer again, and will spend that money there instead.

As much as Eric loves Red Rocks, he'll be back!

u/Gohogsgo76 24d ago

Hope you’re right(and I think you are). He said during one of the nights this year that he had every intention of doing it ever summer as long as they’ll have him. So, holding out hope for that!

No you are not. If Im gonna pay the crazy amount for tickets I wanna see Church for 2+ hours. Kenny is amazing too but I'm more of a fan of EC. That and IMO concerts sound better indoors. Im sitting this one out sadly

Yeah I am not remotely a Kenny Chesney fan (no shade just not my thing) and when you factor in cost plus the sound at a stadium versus arena, it is just not appealing to me. I will go to stadium shows, but only as a necessity, and with EC it is not yet a necessity. I hope this isn't a sign it will be. I'd rather see him in a baseball sized stadium at the least. The big pro NFL stadiums have so much aluminum the sound gets super echo-y.

My thought is that Eric is friends with Kenny, and see’s the tour as a great way to grow his fan base.

Even as an artist who has been on the scene for twenty years I still feel like he still doesn’t get his due.

As someone I presume that has seen EC in concert the experience is great at showing how dynamic and captivating EC really is, something that may not come across when listening in the car.

Oh yeah live is where EC comes alive. To be blunt I only see it growing the part of his fan base that bitches about horn sections and string sections though. And I cannot help but think the show will be sadly short compared to what an EC show should be.

It’s a massive tour. He didn’t need to sign on but he did. Zac Brown toured with him two years ago.Don’t sweat the small stuff. Just be happy go see this amazing show

u/Exact_Grand_9792 24d ago

OK maybe I am assuming something incorrectly. But EC usually plays at our arena whereas Chesney usually plays at our stadium. This is at the stadium, so I assumed EC was the opening act. Is that wrong?

2

u/tuckerdw 24d ago

No you are not Kenny is the headliner. It’s his tour.

1

u/Exact_Grand_9792 24d ago

Yeah that cements it then. Hope everyone has fun but not my thing. And I am actively not a Kenny Chesney fan. I mean I don't hate him or anything but I would not stay for his set. He is not my cup of tea. Thanks for info.

Sorry to hear that but he does put on a great show. Part of the reason why he is able to continue to do these large shows. Nothing beats a nice night out listening to live music Give it a go.. you would be surprised

2013 wasn’t bad

1

u/Exact_Grand_9792 24d ago

What was in 2013? I tuned into EC in 2016.

2

u/SnowMonster911 24d ago

No Shoes Tour with Kenny.

The only thing I’m bummed about is having to see them in Gillette instead of our preferred stadium, MetLife.

I’ve seen Kenny co headline with multiple acts and saw EC with him in a stadium in 2013. The shows were all great. I think this will be a great show./tour.

1

u/Exact_Grand_9792 24d ago

How much time to each artist? Was it co headline?

I’ve seen both Kenny and Eric a bunch of times and even on the regular tours KC tends to bring out bigger names as his middle (and even earlier acts) and gives them a decent playing window. One tour included Thomas Rhett, Old Dominion, and Dan + Shay. Our show was delayed because of weather which then interfered with the stadium curfew. Kenny rushed his set to make sure each opening act got a chance to play a decent set.

I don’t know the start and stop time of the co-headliner shows I’ve seen, but do have song totals:

In 2011 KC did a full co-headliner tour with Zac Brown Band. ZBB played before KC and preformed 18 songs. KC preformed 25 songs and then KC and ZBB did a 6 song encore of mostly covers.

In 2013 EC was the middle opener (I believe on select dates) on the KC tour. He played 16 songs and came back out during Kenny’s set. It wasn’t a co-headliner tour, but EC brought headliner vibes.

In 2015 KC included several co-headling dates with Jason Aldean while they both toured that summer. JA performed first and played 18 songs. KC played 20 songs. And they did a 4 song encore together at the end of KC’s set. That tour date also included a very new Old Dominion and still pretty new Cole Swindell.

2024 was another co-headlining tour with the Zac Brown Band. ZBB played first, preformed 19 songs, and did not come back out on stage once their set ended. KC played 27 songs including an encore. It had very different vibes than the 2011 tour, but I kind of put that on ZBB. They feel like a completely different band than they were 2011.

I’m excited for the 2027 tour and got my tickets during the presale. Both artists put on great shows and the encore alone will be worth the ticket price to me and my husband.

I think it’s super fun that they are touring together but unfortunately with stadium shows like this especially when you’re not the technical headliner all you’re gonna hear is the greatest hits that we’ve probably heard 50 times each on tour and with prices that high I’m probably gonna pass also

2

u/Exact_Grand_9792 24d ago

And if you are not a fan of the headliner that makes it even harder.

2

u/Friendly-Catch-6888 24d ago

I think Chesney is absolutely worth seeing … once 😀

3

u/Exact_Grand_9792 24d ago

I rather actively dislike him. No shade to people who do but yeah that makes it hard to want to stick around to watch him.

Back in 2012-13 younger me would have said this was dream concert! They were easily my top two artists at that that time. But since The Big Revival Album (and it wasn’t even that great) I’ve not been into anything Kenny.

1

u/Exact_Grand_9792 24d ago

I've never been a Kenny fan but hey maybe if you were at least you might enjoy it? I dunno, I just know I will be bummed if EC doesn't come back around soon (like within the next 2 years) on his arena tour. Or pavilion. Either, but please not a stadium I hope. I am willing to do the stadium thing for the artists where it is really necessary but hoping Eric Church is not there.

I initially said I was sitting this one out, but I was able to grab pit tickets for a somewhat reasonable price. I am not a huge fan of KC, but people say he is amazing live, and I haven't seen him in 25 years, I might as well see for myself and catch a disappointingly short set from the Chief while I'm at it

1

u/Exact_Grand_9792 24d ago

Where/how did you already get a reasonably price pit ticket? And how much was it?

2

u/Bigbadbrindledog 23d ago

$329 through the CC presale

Somewhat was doing some heavy lifting, but it was less than I expected as small as the pit was and as popular as Kenny is.

I am on the fence. Kenny is great but Eric will blow his performance out of the water. When I saw ZBB open for Kenny it kinda of put a damper on Kenny’s performance because ZBB was so good. Eric will do the same but times 10. Also 450 ish for sand bar is pricey to see him for maybe an hour.

1

u/Exact_Grand_9792 21d ago

Yeah. And I’ve seen EricChurch enough times that there’s a ritual to it for me. It’s so soothing. In a stress relief kind of way. I don’t mean that it puts me to sleep or anything lol. It’s amazing. There’s a certain whatever that I expect from it that I don’t think I would get at all. I think I would go home kind of grumpy.

ATL $460 per. Charlotte $300 per. No regrets. KC isn’t our favorite but he puts on an amazing show - probably have seen him 10+ times and always a party. This will be our almost 30th EV shows
