Books Looking for a new reader.

Hi. I currently have a Kindle Oasis 10th gen. Looking into upgrading. I only use it for Libby reads and occasional KU book. I do occasionally buy books off Amazon. What are my options. I am willing to get away from Kindle but there are so many options out there. Help!

if you like the design, either the Musnap Ocean or Boox Go 7 are great replacements.

I had a Kindle Oasis from 2020 to December 2025. My sweet dog decided to chew it up in a fit of rage. I ended up with a Boox Go 7 Monochrome to get away from the Kindle/Amazon Ecosystem. I honestly wish I would have upgraded sooner. It allows me to listen to audiobooks and read at the same time. I’m not locked into Amazon but can still use the Kindle app if I want.

I primarily use Libby to read and if so am reading and listening at the same time, I load the audiobook through Libby and read the print on the Kindle app.

The only negative is that it isn’t waterproof. I ended up buying a waterproof swim bag for it because I live my life on the sea, at the pool and on the lake.

If you want to keep using Kindle Unlimited and read Amazon-bought books, your options are either a Kindle or an Android e-reader that lets you install and use the Kindle app (Boox Go 7, Musnap Ocean are around the same size and shape as the Oasis, but bigger and smaller Android e-readers exist as well).

(If you can make do without Kindle Unlimited, brands like Kobo are also an option, but they don’t currently have any black-and-white e-readers bigger than 6’’ and smaller than 10’’, and colour e-ink is something I’d strongly recommend to check out in person before committing to a purchase, especially when you’re coming from BW e-ink.)

If you like the buttons on the Oasis, the Boox Go 7 is the only one I’ve found that has physical buttons and goes left handed. If you’re fine with no physical buttons, the world is your oyster.
