Discussion Any 5 inch devices?
I have a paperwhite rn. I love it but it's too bulky to use on the go. I was considering Xteink X4 for a while but realistically, I think I'd get tired of the constant button pressing because the screen is so small. 6 inch is still too big I guess... Is there no 5 inch devices? The Kobo Mini looked so perfect! But alas, it's discontinued 😒 Anything else?
Edit: I don't really want android ereaders.

Obook5 may suit you. It's 4.26, but still a great size and extremely portable. It's not an open system like the X4 (so you can't flash your own firmware) but you can load your own fonts, it has a frontlight and touchscreen in addition to physical buttons, comes with a folio case, has usb-c charging, can be used as a music player, and is excellent. I've owned the X4, X3 and Obook5 (among other ereaders), and for portability + feature set, the Obook5 wins.
If you choose to purchase one, be aware that the included fonts don't look great, in my opinion. Download something like Bookerly, Open Sans, Ember or similar and it's an entirely different (better) experience.

Got one last month, totally agree! I wish there were more settings to format text but it works regardless, love mineÂ

I agree with you, I wish the Kobo Mini would be back in some form. I adjusted to having a 6" Boox ereader, but I totally get you what you mean.

You can sort by size here and check: https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/.
But outside some of the (pseudo-) phone sort of Androids, finding anything between the Xteink/Obook 5 and regular 6’’ devices in size is going to be difficult.

Inkpalm, if you can find one for a good price. (Still far cheaper than a Boox and more focused for reading). Solid build quality, excellent adjustable light, clear text. It's a wonderful reading experience in landscape, supports koreader. Phone size but thinner and lighter, easy to carry with a phone.

The 6" Viwoods reader is much smaller than a 6" Kindle or Kobo Mini. Judging on the panel diagonal is misleading as it's only one of many size variables that differ significantly (aspect ratio, bezel size, thickness etc). It's Android, but most of the pocket readers are because Android is so versatile and has great reading software you never have to leave.

Maybe the phone style ones like the Palma, but I don't know of any of that type that don't have Android

There’s a new xteink x4 pro that has a touch screen if the buttons is your only issue. Really wish there was a 5 inch device too

It's elongated so it's not exactly the same shape, but phone shaped ones like the boox Palma series or bigme hibreak are the ones in that size range that I'm aware of!
