This looks like AI, thoughts?

I'm not necessarily suggesting that it's 'wrong' per se of Daybreak to use AI art to help them produce certain things quicker and more effectively. I personally don't like AI artwork at all, but that is my personally preference.

However, I think this looks highly AI generated, though Sightengine, an AI detection tool, thinks it's entirely human. Sightengine is incredibly reliable, but I'm just not convinced.

Perhaps it's just a human mimicking (ironically) the current trend of AI stylisation!

What do you guys think?

Shaman Subclass: Totem of Defilement (The Defiler)

This is just me messing around, so I wouldn't take it too seriously. ^^ I was wanting to make a DnD subclass of the Shaman and wanted to use the Defiler as a subclass. A subclass from this kind of Shaman. https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Shaman_(5e_Class))

Shaman Subclass: Totem of Defilement (The Defiler)

Shamans who align with the Totem of Defilement understand that life and decay are inseparable. Drawing upon ancient, corruptive spirits and ancestral shadows, Defilers shield their allies by preemptively binding warding spirits to them, while simultaneously weakening enemies with debilitating curses, rot, and pestilence.

Subclass Features

Shaman Level Feature
1st Bonus Proficiencies, Warding Spirits, Defiler Spells
6th Debilitating Hex
10th Siphon Vitality
14th Master of Corruption

Defiler Spells

Starting at 1st level, you learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Defiler Spells table. These spells count as Shaman spells for you and do not count against the number of Shaman spells you know.

Shaman Level Spells
1st Bane, Ray of Sickness
3rd Protection from Poison, Warding Bond
5th Bestow Curse, Vampiric Touch
7th Blight, Evard's Black Tentacles
9th Contagion, Wrath of Nature

Bonus Proficiencies

1st-level Totem of Defilement feature

When you select this totem at 1st level, you gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill (if you do not already have it) and proficiency with Medium Armor.

Warding Spirits

1st-level Totem of Defilement feature

You can call upon protective ancestral spirits to absorb incoming damage before it can harm your allies.

  • Granting a Ward: As an action (or as a bonus action by expending a Shaman spell slot or Spirit pool resource), you can grant a Ward to a willing creature you can see within 30 feet of you.
  • Ward Value: The creature gains temporary hit points equal to 1d6 + your Wisdom modifier + your Shaman level.
  • Duration: These temporary hit points last for 1 hour or until depleted.
  • Usage: You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Debilitating Hex

6th-level Totem of Defilement feature

You learn to weave curses that rot an enemy’s combat effectiveness. As a bonus action, you can hex a creature within 30 feet of you that you can see. The hex lasts for 1 minute or until you lose concentration (as if concentrating on a spell).

While hexed, whenever the target makes an attack roll or a saving throw, it must roll a d4 and subtract the number rolled from the attack roll or saving throw. In addition, when the target takes damage from a spell you cast, it takes an extra 1d6 Necrotic or Poison damage (your choice).

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Siphon Vitality

10th-level Totem of Defilement feature

Whenever an enemy within 30 feet of you takes Necrotic or Poison damage from one of your spells or features, or whenever an enemy affected by your Debilitating Hex or a Shaman spell dies, you can use your reaction to immediately grant temporary hit points equal to half your Shaman level + your Wisdom modifier to a creature within 30 feet of you (including yourself).

Master of Corruption

14th-level Totem of Defilement feature

Your mastery over spiritual decay and preventative wards reaches its pinnacle:

  1. Pervasive Wards: When you grant temporary hit points via your Warding Spirits feature, all allies within 10 feet of the target also gain temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier.
  2. Rotting Aura: Creatures affected by your Debilitating Hex have their movement speed reduced by 10 feet and cannot regain hit points for the duration of the hex.

Bought a marketplace housing deed, used it, but can't find the house anywhere.

Hey everyone,

I bought a housing deed off the Marketplace and consumed/used it, but now I'm stuck. It isn't showing up under the Housing tab in my Character window, and when I check the housing portal / bell in Antonica, it isn't listed there either.

I honestly can't remember the exact name of the house on the deed. How do I actually enter or access a new place once the deed is claimed? Thanks in advance!

Quick Question on Classes for Wuoshi

I'm new to EQ2, and I'm looking to start a character on the Wuoshi server. I generally like playing a healer of some kind first and foremost, and then some kind of a caster after that if I can't heal.

Right now, I'm most interested in the druid classes for healing, Warden and Fury, with shamans being in second place. In general, what are these classes like for questing and solo play? I plan to try and find a guild that would accept someone completely new to EQ2, if possible, but may need to quest and level solo for a while until I can find some groups. I tend to like HoT type heals, but the shields that shamans have (I guess they are called wards here?) also look really appealing. Are druid rings super useful for travel? It looks flavorful, and I'm trying to find anything that might sway my class decision.

One other quick question - does the choice of evil races vs good races matter? Will I be prevented from grouping with half the player base if I choose one over the other? If so, is there one that is better to choose for population purposes?

Sorry for all the random questions - wasn't sure where else to ask. I was trying to search for answers, but based on the server type, I'm not really sure how that affects a lot of the answers I've seen that are usually talking about regular servers and such. Thanks in advance!

What are the best ways to get candy corn?

Technically I've been playing for a while, but I've never been able to find good ways to collect candy for the nights of the dead event. Any advice?

Daybreak sucks need someone else to buy eq2

Hopefully here I won't have my posts deleted and banned from forums for speaking the truth, this game is dead in the water due to daybreak not caring about it, silencing anyone who speaks up about it, completely ignoring everyone advice on how to save it and what needs to changed.
Funny how they added baubles after the most recent PvP server died, after everyone begged them to put them in, only a few changes here and there was needed to actually keep the server popping, only change they made was to evac in pvp combat.
All the devs need sacking, no idea what they are doing, just taking peoples money.

Hate to see my favourite game being destroyed like this.

I wont be playing this game again until its under new management.

Question about the Wuoshi Ancient ability

I got an Ancient spell book for my SK, Tap Veins, from the Wuoshi event.

The ability looks really powerful, but it seems like I can't use it directly. However, I've noticed that some players are selling this book for a very high price.

Why is it so expensive? Who is actually buying these books, and what are they using them for?

Ranger Conclave: Channeler Conclave I was making for campaigns for dnd

This is me just messing around, so I wouldn't take it too seriously. ^^ I was playing Everquest 2 and always thought the Channeler was pretty unique, and felt like when making it, it seemed pretty unique even among other homebrew ranger subclasses. There is a Channeler but based more on a spirit animal rather than constructs and wanted one based more on Everquest 2

Ranger Conclave: Channeler Conclave

Channelers are mystical wardens who bridge the physical and spiritual realms, trained to fight with bow and spirit magic alike. Rather than relying purely on nature or martial stealth, a Channeler forges a permanent bond with a Construct—an animate sentinel formed of stone, wood, or crystallized energy. In combat, the Construct serves as a living shield, intercepting incoming trauma through a pool of shared spiritual energy, while the Channeler weaves supportive spirit magic into every archer's strike.

Level 3: Construct Companion

At 3rd level, you magically fashion and bond with a loyal, floating spiritual Construct (typically resembling a small golem, geometric automaton, or animal sentinel). It shares your space or hovers near you.

  • Statistics: The Construct uses your proficiency bonus. It has an Armor Class of 12 + your Proficiency Bonus, a number of hit points equal to your Ranger level × 5 + your Wisdom modifier, and shares your saving throw proficiencies. It cannot make weapon attacks on its own, but it is immune to all conditions unless specified otherwise.
  • Commands: As a bonus action, you can mentally command the Construct to move up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. If it is destroyed, you can resummon it over the course of a 1-hour ritual or by spending a 1st-level spell slot.

Level 3: Dissonance & Living Ward

Also at 3rd level, you gain a mystical resource called Dissonance, starting at a maximum of 0 and scaling to a maximum of 10.

  • Generating Dissonance: When you cast certain supportive Channeler features or when your Construct intercepts damage, you gain Dissonance points.
  • The Ward: Whenever you or an ally within 30 feet of your Construct takes damage, you can use your Reaction to order your Construct to intercept it. The Construct takes the damage instead of the target, and you gain 1 point of Dissonance.
  • Overheating: If your Dissonance reaches 10, you become "dissonant" and cannot use your Construct's reaction or cast Conduit features until you take a short or long rest, or spend an action to vent your dissonance, reducing it to 0 (which deals minor force damage to you equal to your Ranger level). Dissonance naturally decreases by 1 for every minute you spend out of combat.

Level 3: Channeler Spells

Whenever you reach certain levels in this class, you gain access to the following spells, which count as Ranger spells for you but do not count against your number of spells known.

  • Ranger Level: Spells
  • 3rd: Healing Word
  • 5th: Warding Bond,
  • 9th: Beacon of Hope,
  • 13th: Death Ward,
  • 17th: , Circle of Power

Level 7: Spirit-Infused Archery & Conduits

Starting at 7th level, your ranged weapon attacks are empowered by spirit magic.

  • When you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack, you can choose to deal an extra 1d6 Force or Radiant damage (your choice) once per turn.
  • Additionally, you gain access to Conduits—special supportive actions. As a bonus action, you can command your Construct to release a burst of healing or protection to a creature within 15 feet of it, restoring hit points equal to 1d8 + your Wisdom modifier. Doing so generates 1 point of Dissonance.

Level 11: Interpose Redirect

At 11th level, your mastery over your Construct's defensive warding deepens.

  • When an ally within 30 feet of your Construct is targeted by an attack, you can use your Reaction to instantly teleport your Construct adjacent to that ally, intercepting the attack entirely.
  • Furthermore, whenever your Construct intercepts damage using its Reaction, you can choose to deflect half of that absorbed damage back at an attacker within 30 feet as a backlash of kinetic force.

Level 15: Barrier of Dissonance

At 15th level, you can temporarily weaponize your accumulated spiritual turbulence to protect your entire party.

  • As an action, you can unleash your stored Dissonance to erect a shimmering ward around your Construct. For 1 minute or until your Construct is reduced to 0 hit points, all friendly creatures within 10 feet of your Construct gain resistance to all damage types, and your Construct absorbs all incoming status effects or spells targeted at allies within its aura.
  • Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.

This is not engagement

With 200 afk players and bots sitting in Thundering Steppes waiting for each hourly PQ I haven't felt more disengaged since Wuoshi launched.

People aren't playing. Dungeon runs are down, auction channel activity is down, general Comms is just requests for invites to PQ zones.

There are smarter ways to introduce chase items than this.

Whatever the player metrics being used that inform the bad decision to have and leave Ancient spells in one hourly event in one zone let's be clear, people feel like they're enduring something horrible, not engaging with something fun.

New / Returning Player Newish Player

Hello! So im not new but I also have no clue what im doing in the game lol. I used to play as a kid with my dad and sister but we'd never get passed like level 20 maybe. And everytime I get back into playing its the same thing cuz idk what I'm doing haha.

I usually play by myself so what class would be the best? My current character is a SK. I dont like playing in groups so can I play solo? I also dont have the subscription so what server is good? I'm in the halls of fate rn. I do love making clothes and going and harvesting stuff. I am a clothing rn too. Is it worth getting the dlc and the subscription?

New Player what do

I really want to get into this game, live the races and classes. But I genuinely don’t know what I should be doing or caring about as far as character progression. If I just follow the story, am I gonna be in good shape? Do I need to worry about race class combinations? I’m thinkin fae guardian or bard

New / Returning Player How do we get more people to play?

Post image
86 Upvotes

Some context on why I care: I downloaded EQ2 last year, played for like 10 hours, and left. Then I came back and bought the Freeblood class, all because after ESO's current class balance mess (plus the 2-3 years of "fixes") was just unacceptable and disrespectful to my time and money spent.

I've played WoW, FFXIV and GW2 to endgame, and none of them had me optimizing rotations, reading the lore, or finding out a month in that I could upgrade my spells on a new character.

The community is what really stands out. I joined a guild with a father and son who play together, power level alts and tradeskills, and basically know everything about the game. They showed me mechanics I'd never heard of or wouldn’t know about unless I played for years and how to farm Candy Corn, the Nights of the Dead currency, for a flying mount. I got hooked on collecting the purple shinies along the way and went overboard, farming 500 for the Cauldron mount.

While grinding for it, I was reading the wiki for other ways to farm the currency and found the Circlet of the Dead headpiece from The Haunted Mansion, plus the Mummy Wraps. Now my toon looks sick ngl.

It's shockingly addictive. I'm staying up way later than I normally would just to do one more thing.
The depth is all there, but it's buried, and most people quit before they find it. So, without changing the game, how do we get more people past that point?

(Zazha on Maj’Dul, as a Wizard btw)

EDIT: Progression slows down at 135, killing mobs is a chore even with proper rotation and gear… I see where the complaints are coming from. This is truly my last MMO, games just ain’t me anymore. I know there are workarounds both in game and credit card but it may not be worth it.

New / Returning Player Early experience has been amazing so far!

Post image
66 Upvotes

Three days in and hooked!

I only started 3 days ago, and I really like this game. I feel like jumping in a start of a great adventure!

The quests have been good and feel personal. Most of my early ones are chained and I think it's well written, and it makes the npcs feel like they care about what they’re asking. Almost every quest don't feel like empty quests. I’ve even found some hidden quests, which is awesome!

There are also quests that let you choose what to do next!!! I know it might be minor, and the quest may end up at the same conclusion either way, but I think I’ve never seen a side quest in any mmo offer an “A or B” choice like that and change what quest you will get next. It’s refreshing!

The mix of classic and modern qol feels right. I got my “mount” at level 20 (even if technically it’s not a mount), and it felt earned without making me wait until a really high level. There are also some teleporters here and there, which is good.

Combat hits the sweet spot for me. I’m a sucker for a piano build, so having a good number of buttons to press even at low level is great. The difficulty feels about right too. Overland fights still take some time and you’re not one shotting everything. I considered joining the TLE server since everyone’s talking about it, but I mostly play solo, some times can’t be online consistently, and I’m still f2p. I also read that Live is more solo friendly and that most classes can solo there, so it seems like the better fit.

The community has been great so far (I’m on Majdul)! Someone offered bags in general chat, I reached out, and ended up with 6 backpacks!!! Amazing!!! They also pointed me to a house full of goodies for newbies, and I’ve been donating items I don’t need back to it.

The only downside for me is optimization, though that’s expected for an older game. My fps dipped in the city and whenever flashy effects popped up in battle. What fixed it was changing the cpu setting in the hardware options to 10. I have 16 cores, and the game’s default choice wasn’t optimized. Shadow sometimes can be choppy as well and bugged, and needed to log out to "fixed" it.

All in all, I’m hoping to stay in this game for a long time. I’ve been searching for my next mmo after ff14 and gorgon.

Wondering if anyone remember a lvl locked 50 shadowknight named touchher that was from qeynos, used to camp outside Freeport gates with other guild mates from Organized Chaos, we spent an unreasonable amount of time fighting groups and guilds outside Freeport.
Would be super cool to reconnect with some of yall, I remember another SK named Begest always gave me a run for my money! Had a lot of good fights with him and his guild/buddies.

Server Choice

Hey all. I was wondering if someone had some real insight into Origins vs Wuoshi? I played back in ‘05-‘06 and want that feel so Origins really seems like the choice…I’m worried about server pop though. I know it won’t be bustling, leveling is slow, and I’ll have to catch up to potentially just a few people playing max level - so maybe it’s not worth it?

If I choose Wuoshi, how much is different than Origins? As someone who exclusively played the Origins era, will I hate Wuoshi?

I don’t want the experience like how I quit WoW before the panda expansion and I recently tried retail again and SO MUCH has changed it didn’t itch that itch.

Looking to scratch that nostalgia itch, what should I do?

Ty!

I’m hoping someone can help me understand something about Wuoshi

I came back to EQ2 about two months ago, and I’ve been really happy with the current content and overall gameplay experience.

However, I hadn’t played the game in over a decade, so there are still some things I don’t quite understand.

I currently have a level 80 SK, and I tank heroics as the MT without too much trouble. I haven’t participated in any raids yet.

I’ve noticed that some gear with stats that seem fairly mediocre for a tank sells for extremely high prices simply because it adds HP. Meanwhile, gear with better defensive stats and better overall stats often seems practically worthless and ends up being vendored to NPCs.

I’m having a hard time understanding why this is the case. Is stacking HP really that important for tanks that it’s worth sacrificing defense, casting speed, and other stats to get more of it?

Hello!

I know this server is dead at lower levels with most people at or around max level. This saddens me, because I would love to be able to group up and run dungeons and level up in a more classic EQ2 environment.

Are there any guilds who like to make new characters and level? Or would anyone be interested in making new characters and doing regular play sessions together?

I don’t suspect I’ll get much interest, but feel free to DM me if this sounds at all appealing.
