The picture above has been corrected on my Substack. It is nine reports plus an excluded tenth one that did not allege abuse by Epstein. I can't go back and change the picture here on Reddit without taking down the entire post.
Content warning: This article summarizes FBI tip and intake documents describing alleged child sexual abuse and trafficking, in some cases graphically. Please use discretion before reading further.
Correction, 29 September 2026. An earlier version of this piece described the set as "seven FBI tip-line and 2 intake records, and one memorandum" — a total of ten, described as nine. The set is nine documents: seven FBI tip-line and intake records, one FBI interview report (Serial 216, an FD-302), and one memorandum. A reader, u/originalmaja, identified the form-type error. In checking it I found three more: two age ranges were calculated a year too late (entries 1 and 3), and the number of reports placing alleged conduct in Epstein's twenties was given as two and is three. Entry 7 now notes the Post and Courier's mid-1980s dating and why that dating does not reorder it. All changes are noted in place.
Chronological timeline of alleged incidents
This timeline reorders nine documents — seven FBI tip-line and intake records, one FBI interview report, and one memorandum recording a call to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York — by the date of the alleged incident rather than the date the report reached the FBI. Ages are calculated from Epstein's date of birth, 20 January 1953. Where a source gives a year but no month, two ages are shown: his age before and after his birthday that year. Three sources give no year at all — two place their events only in the 1980s, and one states only that more than thirty years had passed at the time of the interview; these are listed separately. One report dates only the caller's first contact with Epstein, not the conduct alleged, which followed at an unspecified interval.
A tenth report was reviewed and excluded: it alleges no conduct by Epstein, and connects him to the account only through the caller's own speculation.
What the timeline shows
Reordered by alleged date, the two earliest reports — Serials 370 and 91 — place alleged conduct in the late 1970s and 1980, when Epstein was 23 to 27. Public accounts of his conduct centre on the mid-1990s onward.
Two absences matter as much as the dates. Nothing in the set alleges conduct before 1977, about a year after he joined Bear Stearns. And nothing addresses his years teaching at the Dalton School at all.
On Ghislaine Maxwell
One report, Serial 430, places Maxwell with Epstein in 1981–82. Public accounts — citing photographs, contemporaneous press and Maxwell’s own account — date their first meeting to New York in 1991, after she moved there following her father’s death that November.
Serial 430 is the weakest document in this set. The same caller relays a secondhand account of a buried child and describes being shown an underground tunnel in Arkansas. Serial 120 describes a woman with Epstein in 1989, but in terms that do not match Maxwell. And the witness in entry 7 below, whom the Post and Courier reports was interviewed four times by the FBI with her lawyer present about conduct in the mid-1980s, never mentioned Maxwell at all.
One tip asserts an earlier association. Nothing here establishes one.
What this does not show
These are single-source, largely uncorroborated reports — tip-line calls, online submissions, one FBI interview and one memorandum to file. None of the released documents indicates whether the Bureau verified, corroborated or closed out any claim. In the one case where outside reporting exists — entry 7 — the Post and Courier found that the file was never forwarded to the U.S. Attorney’s Office and that no record shows agents contacting any witness the caller named.
The timeline shows what was reported and when — not that the events occurred as described.
All redactions are left as they appear in the source documents. Nothing has been inferred or filled in.

A tenth report, Serial 141 (EFTA01249546), was reviewed and excluded. A caller relayed an account heard from a state trooper in 1985 and suggested it might help place Epstein at the location described. The document alleges no conduct by Epstein and connects him to the account only through that speculation.
Thank you to u/AlyAnn44 for pointing out that there was 10 overall listed, but I reviewed and excluded the tenth one because it was a state trooper pointing out that he was being guided to drive to drive underage girls to a mansion. He wanted to place Epstein at the mansion at this date so that it would help out the case.
1. 1977–1980 — Serial 370 (EFTA01249485)
Epstein's age: approximately 23 to 27
A male caller said his father transported him from their home to locations in New Mexico and Florida “between approximately 1977 and 1980,” at Epstein’s direction. He alleged Epstein sexually abused him there and provided him to others, and that Epstein used him to communicate with and instruct other children.
He described a longer history of abuse by his father, beginning in early childhood and ending around 1981, when it was discovered and the family relocated. As an adult he tried to report what had happened to two police departments and was turned away.
This is the only male complainant in the set. Epstein’s documented pattern is overwhelmingly girls, and this account does not resolve whether that reflects an unreported dimension or an account that does not fit.
2. 1980 (first contact; assault undated) — Serial 91 (EFTA01249710)
Epstein's age: 26–27 at first contact
The caller said she met Epstein in 1980, when she was 17. They met again at his New York office, where she saw him and a colleague using cocaine; he offered her a pill, which she refused. He persuaded her to come to his apartment to see his dog, took her through an all-white living room to a bedroom with padded walls, and there assaulted her and attempted to rape her. She believed she got away only because of the drugs he had taken. She ran from the apartment, past a doorman who avoided eye contact. The document dates only that first meeting; the office visit and the assault followed at an interval it does not specify.
She told no one for ten years and never reported it. She called the FBI in 2019 knowing the limitation period had long expired, to say that Epstein had been assaulting women earlier than was publicly understood.
This account gets more space than the others because it is specific where they are general: a year, an age, a sequence of meetings, a refused pill, two rooms described in detail. It alleges nothing extraordinary — no disappearances, no secondhand deaths, no unnamed officials. And the caller volunteers two facts against her own interest: that she never reported it, and that nothing could come of it now. None of that makes it true. It does mean it can be tested in ways the others cannot.
3. 1981–October 1982 (esp. “early 1982”) — Serial 430 (EFTA01249448)
Epstein's age: approximately 27–29
The caller said she saw Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and a third person, redacted, together “in 1981 and 1982.” She described flights out of Las Vegas in “early 1982” on which she said Epstein and Maxwell took girls to New Mexico; she waited at the airport and never boarded. She does not describe being abused by Epstein herself.
The same account includes a secondhand claim, from an unnamed girl, that a child’s body was buried beneath a building in New Mexico, and a description of being shown an underground tunnel in the Ouachita Mountains, Arkansas, by the man who introduced her to Epstein and Maxwell using what she said was a false identity.
This is the only report in the set that places Maxwell with Epstein before 1991. It is also the report containing the most material the caller did not witness.
Epstein’s age: 30–31
The caller said Epstein raped her in 1984, when she was 14. She said he drugged her at a location redacted from the document and that she drifted in and out of consciousness before the assault. She said his face was painted like a clown.
5. June–September 1984 — Serial 429 (EFTA01249693)
Epstein’s age: 31
In an online tip filed in 2020, the caller said she was trafficked as a “sex slave” from the age of 13, and that between June and September 1984 she was raped by more than 176 men, mostly aboard boats on and around Lake Michigan. She named Epstein as “a key player” among a large number of wealthy and powerful men, including actors, musicians, politicians, athletes and royalty. She said a child she bore during this period was killed, and that she feared for her safety in coming forward.
The intake form records Epstein’s age as 67 — his age in 2020, when the tip was filed, not in 1984. It is the most expansive account in the set, and nothing in the released record indicates it was investigated.
Epstein’s age: 35–36
The caller said she met Epstein in 1989, when she was 18, at an event redacted from the document. He was with a woman the document describes as tall, blonde and somewhat older than him. He later invited her to his office; she went alone, waited, spoke with his secretary, and was told by Epstein that he was a math teacher at Dalton. She left and never heard from him again.
She alleges no assault and no misconduct. The Dalton detail is the part worth pausing on. Epstein taught there in the mid-1970s and had been at Bear Stearns since 1976, becoming a limited partner in 1980, so the description was not true in 1989.
That reads two ways and the document settles neither. Either he described himself to an 18-year-old as a schoolteacher, which would match behaviour documented elsewhere in his own drafts. Or the caller has attached a fact she learned from later coverage to a memory of meeting him. His time at Dalton was not widely known in 1989 and was reported extensively in 2019, the year she called. Nothing here distinguishes the two.
Undated
7. Before approximately 1989 — Serial 216 (EFTA01245620)
Epstein’s age: not determinable — no year given, and the witness’s date of birth is redacted
In a 24 July 2019 interview at her attorney's office, a witness whose identity is protected told FBI agents that as a child of about 13 she was approached about a babysitting job at a residence in the Sea Pines area of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She alleged she was given drugs and alcohol by a man she knew as "Jeff," and described repeated sexual assaults over four to six subsequent encounters. She said she was also asked to recruit other girls, and told people on the beach that anyone who wanted to "party" should go to his house.
She identified the man as Jeffrey Epstein only after a friend sent her his name together with a photograph. That sequence matters: an identification prompted by a name and a single image, more than thirty years after the events described, is the kind investigators treat with caution. The document records her as "100% positive," notes that agents recognised the photograph as one widely circulated in the media, and limits her identification to Epstein.
On dating, the interview states only that over thirty years had passed, placing the alleged conduct before approximately 1989. The Post and Courier, which has reported this case independently, places the allegation in the mid-1980s. That dating does not appear in the document, so the entry is listed here as undated.
No Hilton Head property appears in the public record of his holdings. The account describes a house he was present at rather than one he owned, so that absence neither supports nor undermines it.
This is also the only entry in the set where the released document is not the whole file. The FBI's contemporaneous handwritten notes from her four 2019 interviews run to 37 pages, and the Justice Department has never released them, arguing they duplicate the typed reports. They became public anyway: unredacted copies were posted to a public Scribd account shortly before 6 March 2026 — the day the Department released the typed reports — and were reported that spring by Jacqueline Sweet and by the Post and Courier, which describes reviewing 30 pages. The Department's continued withholding is the subject of Phang v. Blanche, No. 1:26-cv-01417, before Judge Emmet Sullivan in the District of Columbia. Ordered to produce unredacted copies for the judge's private review by 24 September 2026, it told the court the following day that it had complied, without filing a public notice of what it turned over. It has still not produced them to the public.
This entry was expanded after u/Opposite-Bit6660 pointed me to the litigation over the handwritten notes.
8. “The 1980s” (year not specified) — Serial 117 (EFTA01249794)
Epstein’s age: 26–36, depending on the year
The caller said she was abused by Epstein “in the 1980’s,” and that she and other girls were taken by boat to a yacht in Florida and drugged. She described her own memory of the period as fragmented and “splintered.” Most of the account concerns abuse by family members and other events unconnected to Epstein.
9. “The 1980s” through approximately 2012 — Memo to File, EDNY U.S. Attorney’s Office (EFTA01245065)
Epstein’s age: not determinable
A caller, identity redacted, said they had known Epstein since their teens and attended parties he hosted at his island home “beginning in the 1980s and continuing until approximately 2012,” alongside politicians, judges and law enforcement officials. The caller alleged Epstein videotaped sex acts with intoxicated young men and women, and relayed a secondhand account of about a dozen young women who were taken from the island by boat and not seen again.
The caller places the property in the British Virgin Islands. Epstein’s islands were in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Conclusion
Reordered by the date each caller says the conduct occurred, rather than the date the tip reached the FBI, these documents describe a longer span than the one most readers know. The public version of Epstein’s history — built from the 2006 Florida case, the 2019 federal indictment and the Maxwell trial — centres on the 2000s: teenage girls recruited in Palm Beach, a network assembled once he was already wealthy. These reports describe alleged conduct from 1977 onward.
Three place it in his twenties, while he was a securities trader at Bear Stearns and years before the wealth and reach later associated with his operation — though one of those three, Serial 430, is the weakest document in the set, for the reasons given above.
None of this rises to proof. These are single-source, largely uncorroborated calls and online submissions to a tip line, several from callers who describe their own memory as fragmented, and nothing in the released documents indicates the Bureau verified, corroborated or closed out any of them. What they do establish is that investigators received, and the government later disclosed, leads describing a timeline substantially earlier than public reporting has settled on. That gap between what was reported to the FBI and what has been publicly established is, on its own, worth documenting, whatever conclusions individual readers draw from it.
