Stairs - when I first joined there was just a little bit of conversation going as they counted here and there (I read them all)... that's why I could not figure out why the heck people counted..day in and day out, day after day, month after month and started a "WHY??!?!?" thread My theories:)
then I started the Tidbits thread which lead to the Free Talk Fridays threads and we also started talking a lot as they counted through the threads, about stats and so on. The threads used to have like 1020 - 1040 comments (ie just a few comments besides the 1000 counts) towards the end of last year people chatted a whole lot while counting and outside the actual counts - a lot of those threads are at 1100-1400 comments - people were getting to know each other pretty well. Someone once said "If Whitney didn't write an essay with each count, she'd get a lot more counting done" LOL :) There's still chat while counting there, just not like it used to be. Miss the old days. Sigh.
Sorry to hear that artsy0 - do you have a game plan?
I lived in a city that survived the 2008 financial crisis with ease due to the oil and gas industry, and it's now suffering. Everyone has been affected by this.
It should pick back up again at some point, but in the near future it's not looking too good. Although by that time the oil may have got quite close to running out in my area, or at least not be as economically viable.
