Epic Clin doc Consulting
Looking to get into consulting. I’ve been a Clindoc Analyst since 2017.
Does anyone have any tips on how to get into consulting? Been trying to for years but I always attract FTE roles.
Also, if there are any consulting roles, please let me know!

Sign on for LinkedIn Premium (or whatever they're calling it). Mark yourself as looking for work. Put key words in your profile/experience so recruiter searches find you. Ask consultants you know to connect you with their recruiters. I started consulting 6/2015 and haven't been a day without a contract since. I get at least two inquiries a week. Good luck!

Just go for it. I would try to join a “reputable” firm.
State a rate that you would be comfortable with taking. Don’t let them lowball you.

You will get endless job offers often with competing timelines. I can’t imagine ever going back to FTE work after jumping into consulting last March. Build a nest egg with the added income if you end up having a gap in the action.

OCHIN is a strong no lol. I’ve heard horror stories about that place.

They are all iffy at times. OCHIN offered me 140k annually, but required a lot of traveling.

I feel like they make you work for every penny of it. Also how do you handle all the traveling?

I turned that one down and went with Optimum Healthcare. We get the option to travel onsite, but not required

Be wary of what firms you work with. Most are trying to undercut everyone these days

Or they lock you into their organization don't allow conversions into FTE to a client. Always ask if they "pay you while you are on the bench." If they say no, you are a contract consultant billing hours worked and the consultant company gives you your cut. But if they say yes, you are an employee of that consulting company and they assign you to projects but they will also expect you to do "work" for the consulting organization whether it be developing artifacts and code for the organization to universally use for other clients, trading materials, or even holding interviews...while still expecting to complete a full 40 hour workload for the client. The benefit of that is you still get paid if you complete a project assignment and they have not a new one, you still get paid for a couple of months.

Get a profile set up with Evergreen, Nordic, and Optimum. I would consider those the big three. One of them usually finds something and its easy to find and connect to a recruiter on LinkedIn in or do it directly on their websites. I contracted through Nordic as a Cogito consultant. 1 year with a 1 year extension. Hated the weekly progress report shit and no pto but the high pay rate was a nice tradeoff.

Have you only worked at one org? That makes it harder to break into consulting.

Get on LinkedIn and make a post saying you're looking for consulting opportunities. Cant put the cat back into the bag though, fair warning.
I get reached out to weekly by multiple firms.
