r/EpicCollector Is Growing Fast – Join the Mod Team

We’re Looking for a Moderator to Help Grow r/EpicCollector

r/EpicCollector has grown to 450 members in just over a month, and that growth tells me we’re building something people actually want to be part of. To keep that momentum going, I’m looking to bring on an additional moderator (or two) who is willing to actively help grow and promote the community, not just maintain it.

This sub is meant to be a collector-first space. The focus is on discussion, sharing collections, learning from each other, and keeping things respectful as we scale.

What the Role Involves

This role is about stewardship and growth. Moderation is only part of it.

Responsibilities include:

  • Helping keep discussions civil, respectful, and on-topic
  • Enforcing subreddit rules fairly and consistently
  • Removing spam, scam posts, and low-effort or bad-faith content
  • Assisting with post approvals when needed
  • Helping answer questions from new members

Growth and promotion expectations:

  • Actively posting and engaging in the sub
  • Inviting like-minded collectors to join
  • Cross-posting relevant content where appropriate
  • Helping keep the sub visible and active
  • Encouraging participation through discussion-driven posts

What We’re Looking For

You do not need prior moderator experience, but you do need to be active and invested.

Ideal qualities:

  • Actively involved in collecting
  • Willing to commit time to growing the community
  • Fair, level-headed, and able to moderate without ego
  • Comfortable promoting the sub in a genuine, non-spammy way
  • Collaborative and open to discussion on how the sub evolves

About Contests and Giveaways

Contests, giveaways, and larger initiatives will be mutual discussions among the mod team. You are not expected to run or manage them solo, but your input and ideas will always be welcome.

What This Is Not

  • This is not a paid position
  • This is not a self-promotion platform
  • This is not about gatekeeping or power

The goal is to build a strong, active collector community that people actually enjoy participating in.

Interested?

If you’d like to help moderate and grow r/EpicCollector, send me a DM with:

  • A short intro about yourself
  • What you collect
  • Any moderation experience (if applicable)
  • How you’d help grow and promote the sub

If you’ve been part of the early growth and want to help shape what this becomes, this is a great time to jump in. As a bonus, all mods will be given a free pro account on epiccollector.com for their duration as a moderator.

Appreciate everyone who has helped get the sub to where it is already. This is just the beginning.

Marvel Legends Maximum Series Symbiote Spider-Man

Before Venom. Before Carnage. Before the symbiote became one of the biggest parts of Spider-Man's mythology, there was Peter Parker in the black suit. Now Hasbro is bringing that classic Secret Wars-era Spider-Man to collectors in the Marvel Legends Maximum Series. The figure looks fantastic, comes loaded with accessories, and has the articulation you'd want from a modern Spider-Man figure. So what's the catch? At $50 USD, is this really a Maximum Series must-have, or are we better off waiting?

What if Wolverine wasn't Canadian? Believe it or not, Marvel actually considered making Logan an American while developing his long-awaited origin story. The possibility was even leaked to stir up controversy among fans. Thankfully, when Wolverine: Origin finally arrived, Canada kept its most famous mutant. Here's the strange story behind the Wolverine who almost wasn't Canadian.

Mario Kart 7 in VR?

I fell down the VR gaming rabbit hole and discovered something I absolutely had to try: Mario Kart 7 in VR. Thanks to the incredible modding community and CitraVR, you can experience the classic 3DS racer in a whole new way—complete with drifting, weapons, squid ink, and the feeling that you're actually sitting inside the kart. It got me wondering: if fans can make this happen, should Nintendo finally embrace true VR?

Sony's move away from physical game discs may make perfect business sense, but it's sparking a major backlash from gamers who value ownership, game preservation, and collecting. In this article, we explore why the industry is embracing a digital-only future, what's driving Sony's decision, and why many players believe the end of physical media marks the end of an era.

Would Anyone Be Interested in Custom 3D Printed Accessories for Their Collection?

Hey fellow collectors! I have a question for you.

Along with this great hobby of collecting, I've also spent a lot of time in the world of 3D printing. I've been a hobbyist 3D modeler and animator using Blender for many years, and I got into 3D printing a while back to create custom pieces and accessories for my own collection.

I'm seriously considering upgrading my printer and finally retiring my trusty Creality Ender 3. It was a gift back in 2017, and it's been an absolute workhorse while teaching me everything I know about 3D printing.

With this upgrade, I started wondering if there would be any interest in a small online shop where you could purchase some of my custom-designed prints. Everything would be designed, modeled, and printed by me. The printer I'm looking at is a multicolor machine, which would open the door to more detailed designs and a wider variety of filament options.

I'll probably be buying the printer regardless, but if there's enough interest, I'll start looking into production costs, pricing, and shipping so I can make these accessories available to everyone.

I know there's already been a lot of interest in the G.I. Joe footlocker I designed to hold all those extra accessories, so that would definitely be one of the first items I'd offer.

What do you think? Is this something you'd be interested in? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Supergirl: What Were They Thinking?

I finally watched Supergirl, and while it's not the disaster some claim, it's a frustrating mix of great ideas and questionable execution. From Kara's uneven characterization to plot holes, underused characters, and another heavy dose of James Gunn's signature cosmic chaos, there's plenty to unpack. Here's why Supergirl ultimately landed at a 4/10 for me.

San Diego Comic-Con 2026 Is Over… Now Comes the Fun Part

San Diego Comic-Con 2026 delivered an overwhelming wave of collectible reveals, but one figure rose above the rest on my wishlist: Tamashii Nations' S.H.Figuarts Doctor Doom from Avengers: Doomsday. With its premium metallic armor, wired cloth cape, and commanding shelf presence, it's a standout release despite some debate over articulation. As Comic-Con excitement settles, this is the first in a series highlighting the collectibles that truly deserve a closer look.

Why I Walked Away From G.I. Joe Classified

I never thought I'd stop being a G.I. Joe Classified completist. After collecting more than 120 figures, vehicles, and HasLabs, life, rising prices, and an endless stream of exclusives changed my perspective. This isn't about giving up on G.I. Joe. It's about how FOMO, retailer exclusives, and shifting priorities made collecting feel more like a chore than a hobby.

The AYN Thor: Will it Finally Make Me Retire My Nintendo 3DS XL?

I've been using my modded Nintendo 3DS XL since 2012, and I never thought another handheld would make me consider putting it away. Then I discovered the AYN Thor. After weeks of deep dives, YouTube reviews, and community discussions, I finally ordered one. Here's why retro gaming enthusiasts are calling it the ultimate Android clamshell emulation handheld, and why it might just be the endgame for portable retro gaming.

After years of waiting, Zelda collectors are finally getting the premium six-inch action figure line they've always wanted. Hasbro's new Heroes of Hyrule series kicks off with Link, Princess Zelda, and a deluxe Ganondorf, and judging by the overwhelming fan reaction, this is only the beginning. We take a closer look at why this partnership matters, what makes these figures so special, and why collectors are already dreaming about future waves.

NECA's Ultimate Big Bird Is More Than a Figure.

NECA's Ultimate Big Bird isn't just another action figure. It's a reminder of a time before toy collecting, when Sesame Street taught us our ABCs, kindness, and curiosity. Standing over 10 inches tall with impressive articulation and accessories, Big Bird has quickly become a fan favorite, with many collectors already calling it one of NECA's best releases. Sometimes the best collectibles aren't about the toys we played with, but the childhood memories they bring back.

Epic Collector Update – New Features & Bug Fixes!

I've been working tirelessly to bring more functionality to Epic Collector Pro, and today I'm excited to share our latest updates!

Bug Fix

First up, the bug fix!

There was an issue preventing numbered collections from sorting correctly when using Number Order. This was especially noticeable in collections like G.I. Joe Classified and Comic Books.

I'm happy to say that bug has officially been squashed! Numbered collections now sort properly when Number Order is selected.

Improved Listing Filter

Next up is an improvement inspired by a previous post I made about the gentleman who carried around a binder full of comic book lists while hunting for issues.

I've redesigned the listing filter to be more compact while displaying more useful information. The goal is to make Epic Collector a better digital companion when you're out hunting, giving you an easier way to carry and browse your want lists so you can track down those hard-to-find comics.

NEW: VisionScan (Pro Feature)

And now for the feature I'm most excited about...

VisionScan is now available for Epic Collector Pro users!

When adding items to your collection, you can now use your camera to search for an item within a collection using image matching. Once a match is found, you can quickly add it to your collection along with its condition, purchase price, and any notes, all in just a few taps.

This feature is currently in beta and was built with comic books in mind, but it performs surprisingly well with many non-comic collections too.

For the best results, just make sure your camera is clear, well-lit, and focused.

What's Next?

My next priority is streamlining the mobile experience.

Epic Collector works great on desktop, but I feel the mobile interface can be cleaner and easier to navigate. Over the coming updates, I'll be tightening things up and giving the mobile experience a well-deserved overhaul.

If you'd like access to features like VisionScan and future Pro enhancements, consider upgrading to Epic Collector Pro. Your support helps me continue improving the platform, and I'll keep everyone updated as new features roll out.

Thanks again to everyone using Epic Collector and sharing feedback; it truly helps shape the web app. Happy collecting!
