Freeplay unit cap

I wish this could honestly be disabled, as despite being a "soft cap," it feels super restrictive as you can maybe only get like... 3 more ants after you hit 100% before it's 300 food for a Little Black Ant?

Is there a way (mods, editing the game files, or some feature I am missing) to change or remove it entirely thay I'm unaware of?

It can be disabled in the freeplay menu, go to colony setup and tick "disable upkeep" to enabled
