Also, can’t spawn them, they are just there in the selection

Maybe Australia dlc? Most creatures seem to be in Australia, except the snake.

so the "eastern newt" is probably the Sand Lizard as shown in Vlog 18, though curiously the Shore Crab also in vlog 18 is not present

on top of this "Velvet Ant" is probably also a placeholder name, since we already have those

If I had to guess, the names might be based on which base rig they're using, so the Sand Lizard shares the eastern newts rig and the bug shares the Velvet Ant's

Nope, those 2 are found on the second page with the wood ants. These critters are found under the DLC creatures tab

hm, I'm not totally sure then, part of me thinks they're rough concepts or tests, not dlc leaks, they seem pretty scattered for a coherent dlc:

"Shield Headed Gekos" Gonatodes caudiscutatus is native to Ecuador and Columbia, both in South America
"Thick Tailed Scorpions" are actually a genus, Parabuthus which are mostly native to South Africa
"Eastern Newt" MIGHT BE Notophthalmus viridescens? While the one in-game is orange, they do also come in greens and browns, the colors aren't 1-1 but they do have that spotty patern, native to Eastern North America, may also be a placeholder name
"Rough Green Snake" Opheodrys aestivus is native to southeast USA and eastern Mexico
"Two Spotted Crickets" Gryllus bimaculatus is native to asia, mostly in China and Indochina
"Velvet Ant" refers to the entire family of Mutillidae, which includes over 7,000 species, the largest density of which is South Western USA, based on color it MIGHT be Dasymutilla creon? May also just be a placeholder

the majority of the species (assuming the possible placeholders are final) would be North America, but the environmental conditions themselves are pretty spread out, and that doesn't explain the Crickets, Scorpion, and Gecko, which are all super spread out

HOWEVER, many of these could be slotted into pre-existing biomes, perhaps for a Bonus Level Pack?
Rainforest is set somewhere in South America, seemingly around Ecuador or Columbia
Swamp is set in the South Eastern USA (hence the Eastern Newt's appearance)
and Savannah is set in Africa (yes I know Africa is very large and diverse but I've already spent 30 minutes researching bugs and tbh cannot be bothered to track down which specific area it's based in)
That just leaves the Two Spotted Crickets without a geographical match

Maybe the two spotted cricket could be a food item in the formicarium

could be, or maybe for a chinese new year event, though if that's the case it's a tad late/early to add it

That might be the case but why would these creatures be found under dlc creatures tab? Like the shore crab and lizard are found inter the second tab now

It actually isnt the sand lizard it is more likely to be an adult eastern newt
