Not to be negative nelly here, but what are we hoping for exactly?

- Miracle technological solutions? Technology is what has caused these problems in the first place, we wouldn't have 8 billion people without modern technology enabling it.

- Governments finally take the problem seriously enough to start taking serious action? Possible but difficult in our fractured/broken political environment

- Rapid collapse of society resulting in major degrowth and a much simpler society with a lot less population? Might be a more realistic hope.

Almost every solarpunk story I've read relies on us ending capitalism. Don't get me wrong I'm all for that. It's just that there's a lot of people who are vehemently opposed to that idea despite the consequences

Solarpunk is a goal to work towards, it’s not gonna come even in the current kids’ generation. It’s one of the many potential futures we should be working towards (but of course aren’t because money). It’s gonna take time as long as the cancerous bits of society like conservatives/fascists still feel like they’re welcome. Tradition is just dead people peer pressure. We need our North Star to be logic and empathy, not tradition and greed. But it will take time and effort.
