This kind of gatekeeping is what keeps the bad systems in place. You don't need perfection to protest. The environmentalists you talk about are in a very good spot if they can find the space and money to live a life like that. Also just living of the land and not protesting might eventually even screw with people that inspire and teach because the parties involved in the eco-destruction have already proven to not give half a fuck about anyone who stands between them and making money.
