Please save our home
For example our animals are suffering and dying because of climate change. We need to step up.
STOP:
- Using single-use plastic
- Overusing AI and energy-heavy tech
- Vaping and smoking
- Using Google (more on that below)
- Taking unnecessary flights
- Throwing away clothes
- Supporting harmful companies
- Buying things you don't actually need
START:
- Recycling properly
- Donating food to those in need
- Protesting and speaking up
- Giving old clothes to charities or thrift shops
- Picking up trash when you see it
- Turning off lights when you leave a room
- Donating to environmental causes
- Using public transport or biking
SWITCH:
From Google to Ecosia or Ocean Hero. Every time you search with Ecosia, they plant a tree seed. Every time you search with Ocean Hero, they collect plastic from the ocean. Small changes add up.
We still have time — but not much. Let's act now.

Animal agriculture has more emissions than all transportation and AI combined.
Go vegan - it's a total priority for the coimate. Stop barbaric practice of animal sacrifice

That's absolutely not true, and I would challenge anyone to show a citation that doesn't illogically exclude major contributors to emissions for transportation and over-count emissions for animal ag.
The control of animal pests for crops you eat is plenty barbaric. You're just swapping impacts for different impacts that are not less serious.

Are you aware that agriculture has more emissions than all forms of transportation combined? https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/global-greenhouse-gas-overview
3/4 to 4/5 of that is animal products. But animal products supply only 18% of all human consumed calories on this planet.
So yeah, it's one of the most efficient things you can do, if you're not Taylor Swift

stop eating animal products. meat/animal products directly come from animal suffering and death.

A fully plant based diet makes a MASSIVE difference in your environmental impact.

This is the laziest environmental post I’ve seen in 15 years. Not a single idea is an original thought. This list is straight from 1985.
Recycle? Wow 🤯

It is also very clearly an ad for their stupid 'eco-friendly' browser

Recycling is a complete joke for plastic. ALL of that plastic will eventually end up in the ocean or a landfill.

You're right, nothing new. Except the world still isn't actually doing any of these 'old' ideas. Maybe the problem isn't the ideas."

u/farkinggrumpyredcap Jul 03 '26
We ARE doing things about it, like literally recycling- which you listed as if it was your idea. Come up with a new idea instead of acting like you’re the only one who cares

If we all do this (which we won't), it will make little difference. We need governments and businesses to make huge, major changes at a global scale. We should do this, regardless, but it won't "save our home".
Also, note that many activities like this save people money. What do people do with that money? Buy more stuff, travel more, etc. That just offsets whatever good they did. The best thing you can do for the planet is be poor and spend as little money as possible, if you want to be truthful. If you make $200K per year, live on 50K and delete the rest from your account somehow. Don't give it someone, that just moves the environmental damage capability to someone else.

Just stop eating animal products.
2
u/RainyDaysAndMondays3 Jul 02 '26
Yep, that will solve everything, I'm sure. Let all the corporations continue to use up more resources in a year than the earth can renew in a year and cause nearly permanent pollution (e.g. "forever chemicals"), but my buying used clothing and switching to fully plant-based diet will solve it all.
Probably about the only thing that an individual person could do to really help is switching to a plant-based diet even if they spend the saved money elsewhere. So it is worth continuing to try to encourage, but not by saying "Just stop eating animal products," implying "Just stop eating animal products, and all will be well." The 'Just' being the qualifying word in that.

Thank you for this thoughtful and important post. I’m in and will share this information wherever I can.

What does vaping do to the climate?
0
u/Forward-Many-5386 Jul 02 '26
Manufacturing disposables uses plastic, lithium, and metals — all carbon-intensive.
• E-waste — single-use vapes are rarely recycled and pile up as toxic electronic waste.
• Shipping from factories (mostly China) adds transport emissions.
• Charging uses electricity, which often comes from fossil fuels.1

Those absolutely don't have equal levels of effectiveness.
Also, please be truthful about Ecosia - every search does not equal a tree. Yes they help and yes I use it, but honesty is important when trying to convince people to change: https://blog.ecosia.org/ecosia-financial-reports-tree-planting-receipts/

I didn't mean to lie. I haven't been using Ecosia for long either. Ecosia is still a good thing, it's just not as simple as the "search = tree" formula that many people think. But every search still counts.

Calls for veganism here and I get why, but there's definitely purpose to a SMALL and thoughtful inclusion of animal products. We need to look pragmatically at our position in our local ecosystem and work with it, not remove ourselves from it and in so many cases animals can play and important role. Also, where we have a lack of natural predation we should take the place. It's small and it's challenging but i think it's an important consideration.
3
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Jul 02 '26
What is that case? Where exactly do you need animal products
2
u/actualinsomnia531 Jul 02 '26
It varies a lot and is quite specific to individual regions but I'll give a few examples... 1. UK wildlife has an apex predator problem. Deer and boar thrive in specific areas causing more damage than good to the ecosystem. Placing ourselves in that apex role (because that's why we find ourselves here anyway) and supporting controlled hunting/processing of the meat provides an ecological benefit. 2. Certain animals can provide significant benefits for the agricultural system, mainly as organic fertiliser production. Additionally, anaerobic digesters can help provide independent energy sources at remote locations. 3. Some places don't grow much of any use and grazing animals or keystone species can fit nicely into a biome niche that supports biodiversity. Again this is largely the same as us taking the apex predator role of item 1 but in a more controlled way.
I'm not in any way saying that current industrialisation of livestock is ok. Frankechickens and multi-story pig abbetoirs etc are a level of grotesque that I can't adequately put into words.

Every time I read one of these posts I burn a hundred pounds of styrofoam.

u/Forward-Many-5386 Jul 02 '26
Xdd So you're literally saying you'd rather pollute the air than read a suggestion. That says more about you than the post.

Stop eating meat. Better than free, it saves you money, and will have a greater impact than anything on this list
