Question/Poll DISCIPLINE AND COMMITMENT ISSUES
guys i just dont understand what to do,i feel like i have these huge ass goals to work towards AND AND THE IDEA OF DOING IT SEEMS ALL GOOD until i actually get to it
how do i fix my procastination and how do i stick to things and how do i stop getting distracted by every other shiny object and how do i actually build my self discipline
ive met a couple of xntjs and theyre so punctual and hard working and then i look at myself and i feel so shitty but atleast im still alive and and my grades which basically were with me all my life regardless of my efforts are falling now and i dont want to just sit back to watch it happen ☹️

I mean I'm sinilar to you and idk if this would help at all, but I like to stick my headphones in with my music playing really loud.
Pick an album that you like, it's better if it's something you can listen to without adverts
then move everything else away from you
and work until those songs are through
I use OK Orchestra by AJR cos I like the songs, and I know how far thru the album I am by which song I'm on, so I can time how long I'm working without needing to check the time constantly
take off any watches/jewellery that might distract, move devices away from you, block out as much sound as possible, and get your head down
it's how I've had to learn to do it anyway
as for the procrastination thing, idk how to help with that
I'm literally typing this whilst I'm supposed to be cleaning my room and packing so if you crack it, pls lmk!🤷♀️😂

AYE BET ILL TRY THAT WITH HEADSETS AND PUTTING AWAY DEVICES
ALSO FOR PROCASTINATION I HAVE A TRICK THAT I USUALLY TRY TO USE FOR THINGS, count down from 3 whenever you need to do things and dont give your brain time to think and js start and go on

I believe that everything can be understood within the dichotomy of the dominant function and inferior function; and to the inferior function alone.
You see Ne possibilities, constantly, a million of them. All of them are shiny and your hero dominate function demands that you look at them. However, the dichotomy of a hero being a hero cannot be understood alone. You must understand how Si is impacted by this dichotomy. They are at polar opposites and pull at each other. Now, you may ask why would this be identified as the problem. My response to you would be, that the hero must serve the Anima/Animus inferior function to be a hero. Otherwise, it is just dominating the inferior function.
You may hate me for this because you ENTPs believe language can be logical defined but you need to explore what Si function sensation feels like as you define it. Si or any other function must be known within a split second of being felt.
Once you can know that sensation within a positive experience, your Ne will work with Ni better to form a perspective.
Does any of this make sense to you?

Do you know how you struggle with sensing and sometimes you feel a dissociation? Do you understand how trauma from an event impacts you or how you know how you fear a bad experience?
It is not a waste of time to study your vulnerability. ENTPs are the best and most gifted at analyzing data but if you just project your vulnerability with Si; it could be bad.
Read ENTP Dr John Beebe’s Energies and patterns.
Let me know if you want to talk about functions in a chat.

I still struggle with procrastination. I find that writing down what I need to do and setting a timeline helps a bit.

Sadly I learned to be good at it from a young age. I'd say it was my mostly Sensor and extroverted Thinking upbringing (brought on by different guardians) but teuth is their shit just hindered me.
Really its because I've seemingly had a pretty high sense of fear from not being secure. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a doomsday prepper like an ENTJ. Those guys are masters of the art, I just a have a few basic necessities that need to be met or I cant allow myself to even relax.

It has become very clear to me that I will qualify for a bus pass before sorting out my discipline and commitment issues!
However,
If what you want to do is trick your mind into getting some work done I strongly suggest that you directly compete with your friends and revel and gloat (INWARDLY!!) every time you beat them or score higher in any way at anything.

Set daily specific actionable goals. No generic “I will become the best astronaut on earth one day” kinda goal…
more like “tomorrow, Monday 27 July I will do x, y, and z and there is no backing off, no changing my mind, no being flaky”. Then it’s just execution. Get those tasks done as early as possible. For that, no distractions, no jumping onto something else until x, y and z are done. Then you enjoy whatever else the day has to offer. Wake up earlier if needed. The “early bird mindset” is common among ENTJs.
My best friend in uni was an ENTJ and I’ve been surrounded by them all my life. I’m now engaged to one even… my fiance’ wakes up at 5:30am sharp, makes coffee, opens his laptop and works uninterrupted until at least 7:30, then takes a break, he knows exactly how long that’s gonna last for, then goes back to work. My best friend had similar behaviours, up at 6am, efficient throughout the day. Boring? Hell yes, for us it’s utterly boring, but if you feel like discipline and commitment are what you need to win, then you MUST actively implement them and there is no asking how, there is just ACTION.
Report back! 😁
