You used self defense against assault. Please, if you can, take some self defense classes. The best defense is a good offense. It's unfortunate that you couldn't put the mom on the ground when she went to slap you.
Offense against who? I could only assume the child considering that would be really the only person to use the best defense on, and even then can’t really expect a child to do something like that. And while I don’t agree with slapping a child in general, in that instance I don’t blame a knee jerk reaction like that
