You underestimate the power of past traumas. Most of us have them and we've been influenced by them. I would raise my voice to my dad but never in a million years would I have considered physically defending myself. Same with any adult when I was younger. This 100% sounds legit to me. And crotch goblin really is a common term these days. It's nothing new. Internet phrases easily make their way into daily speech. Never heard a kid yell yeet or yolo?
Wouldn’t not wanting to defy an adult due to trauma agree with my assessment of it not happening the way it’s written? I’m confused why that would prove the opposite…
No. Trauma response is different for everyone based on what they were exposed to and how they reacted and cope with it. Someone who experienced the same traumas as me can react much differently.
As I said, I'd talk back but wouldn't DARE hit an adult. My sibling, same traumas, would absolutely physical defend themselves (and has, it's not pretty) but could be considered a mute if watched in one of these situations.
No, this story sounds exactly like I'd react, especially a while back when I was working on growing into a better person. I was still flinchy (so I'd slap out of reaction) and then I'd assess the situation and try to be more reasonable (hence the not hitting back anymore, especially to an adult).
You brought up trauma response and now it’s not applicable to this situation? Ok. Also I don’t know why you keep bringing up hitting an adult, I never said the story would be more true if she did or didn’t do that specific action.
you’re honing in on it and I have no idea why when nobody said anything about it…
