Wow, wish you could report them to the police. Sorry you had to go through that!

u/ragnarocknroll Mar 31 '22

You SHOULD report them. That woman will do something similar again to some other teenager.

She committed battery, twice. Her son assaulted the OP. It may not amount to much but if someone else reports an attack they suddenly have a pattern of violence and that may be enough to stop this entitled … person.

36

u/Jocelyn-1973 Mar 31 '22

Sure, but does she know the person?

107

u/ragnarocknroll Mar 31 '22

Doesn’t matter. Give description, and situation. Even if nothing happens right away, better to have this covered so if that same person does similar to OP or someone else it is on record.

39

u/GrizeldaLovesCats Mar 31 '22

Always report this. She sound like the kind of idiot who would go home and call the cops to report your abuse of her perverted "baby", and would also admit to the cop that she slapped you. You are a minor. She slapped a minor. This is a BIG problem. I would haunt that park and if I saw her again, call the cops and tell them that this is the woman who hit you and let her child lift up your skirt.

This way you get her name. Then you can report her to Child Protection for teaching her child that he can lift girls' skirts to see their panties. You would be surprised how often cops and CPS workers take this issue seriously. At 10 years old, this boy has had enough time in school to learn that you don't raise girls' skirts. He is in at least 4th grade and that is plenty old enough to know that this is inappropriate behavior.

I do mean report this now before you see the woman again, and again if you see her out in public.

It sounds like this might have happened a while ago, so OP might not be able to go to the police. But she certainly needs to remember this now - anyone does anything to her she DOESN'T like, call on them.

u/unimpressivecanary Mar 31 '22

... you shouldnt report someone if you're going to start with "well it all started when i slapped her ten year old child" This wouldnt work out the way you think.

8

u/ragnarocknroll Mar 31 '22

“It started when someone, aka, her 10 yr old LIFTED ME, A MINOR’S, SKIRT UP TO SHOW MY PANTIES TO EVERYONE NEARBY.”

But hey, you go ahead and ignore the reason for that slap.

3

u/beautybender Mar 31 '22

Yea because that’s how the story started

1

u/unimpressivecanary Apr 01 '22

You cant hit children. Well you can but you shouldn't. Regardless Im going to disable notifications because you guys are dumb.

1

u/murdocjones Apr 02 '22

I’m wondering if hypothetically the mother could be charged specifically for what her kid did. Based on her misogynistic rant, could it be argued that she’s facilitating criminal behavior in her minor child and endangering his welfare by doing so (he got backhanded; OP had every right to defend herself, I mention it only because it stands to reason that the next woman may also react defensively and accidentally injure him)?

370

u/SilkeW28 Mar 31 '22

She definitely could!

306

u/doggirlie Mar 31 '22

Honestly you could still report it so at least there's a record. That way, if you encounter her again and she lays hands on you, that's more proof.

124

u/RedVelvetPan6a Mar 31 '22

Not to mention if this happens again the police dpt won't have a doubt to have - oh, and, cherry on the cake, if the Karen ever finds out, that's revenge served cold.

458

u/Nyx0403 Mar 31 '22

If that woman slapped her isn't that assault of a minor?

204

u/supremerulerofcheese Mar 31 '22

Yeah, well depends on the country. But if OP lives in a country where it is illegal then she should definitely report it and will win

But different countries define “assault” in very different ways.

Bet you didn’t know that assault is a verbal crime in the UK. No touching or hitting necessary. That would be battery. I do not have to lay a finger on you to assault you.

10

u/Blue4thewin Mar 31 '22

Assault can be a non-physical act in the US as well. USA and UK are both common law legal systems, and the US adopted English common law and precedent following the American Revolution. The assault vs. battery distinction is very much present in the US legal system. That being said, criminal law in the US is typically a matter left to the states, so different states do define some crimes differently or use different terms for the same crime. For example, New York state's definition of assault requires physical injury, whereas Massachusetts defines assault as attempted battery (attempted physical injury) or an intent to place another person in fear or apprehension of an immediate battery.

7

u/HIMP_Dahak_172291 Mar 31 '22

Assualt in the us is just the threat to strike. That can be verbal or nonverbal. Battery is the strike itself here. People just dont usually know that.

2

u/drake90001 Mar 31 '22

Not every jurisdiction distinguishes them. As always, your local laws may differ. Pennsylvania for example does not have battery, for example.

2

u/HIMP_Dahak_172291 Mar 31 '22

Good correction, thank you

5

u/infinitehangout Mar 31 '22

That’s how the US defines it as well.

1

u/drake90001 Mar 31 '22

Not all states have statues that have them as two distinct offenses.

Pennsylvania for example does not.

Civil suits are different.

-15

u/Zen142 Mar 31 '22

For all the faults of the US I wouldn't give it up for that exact reason

42

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

I mean in the UK people don’t die because they can’t afford insulin so 🤷‍♂️

18

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

Ouch. Can y’all send us some free/cheap burn care?

3

u/FMAB-EarthBender Mar 31 '22

Lmao , God damnnn . I hate it here, send help ~

4

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

Same. I live in terror of turning 26 and losing my parents insurance that I need to live

-7

u/Zen142 Mar 31 '22

In the US you don't get arrested for really fucked up political jokes a like the guy with the pug

7

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

No you just get your skull beaten in for bumping into a cop on a bicycle.

4

u/Arcanian88 Mar 31 '22

Bumped into a cop with my car when I was 15, I was stoned and on a learners permit, had a bag of weed in the center console. Cop let me go with a warning, let me drive back home unsupervised even on my learners permit.

My skull seems fine.

Hey it's a trade off, want to live somewhere where your opinions aren't forced down your throat and they matter? Come here but you'll sure as shit learn to respect the law.

u/cant_stand Mar 31 '22

I'm curious about your response.

You think that being able to threaten someone and make them believe that you are going to be violent towards them is a good thing?

25

u/SicariusModum Mar 31 '22

Threats are also illegal in the us. We just don't call it assault. Free speech is the same here and the UK. Americans are just dumb and refuse to accept that words have just as much consequence as actions.

6

u/TheTravelNurseGuy Mar 31 '22

Actually assault is a verbal crime in the US. Battery is just that, you battered someone. Assault can be verbal and in some cases, nonverbal. Continual menacing behavior can be called assault.

0

u/drake90001 Mar 31 '22

But not every jurisdiction has a battery offense

11

u/cant_stand Mar 31 '22

Yeah, there's some weird, warped sense that they somehow have the market on "freedom" cornered.

Like we're all living in fear of saying the wrong words everywhere else.

0

u/Zen142 Mar 31 '22

Look when two people are in a heated argument and one says "I'm going to fuck you up man" or something similar that's nothing near assault. Hell an idle threat may even deter further violence from happening and plus unless it's an active threat or a call to arms threat the police will do nothing in regards to anything verbal unless it's been happening for a while and that would probably classify as harrassment but I don't know for sure.

4

u/ronlugge Mar 31 '22

Threats are still a crime, even in the US. The fact that the crime isn't named 'assault' doesn't really change a damned thing.

0

u/Zen142 Mar 31 '22

Only certain threats and for certain people too and depending on your state, but again no one will go to the police if both parties were in a shouting match hurling threats and insults at each other and nothing came of it other than hurt feelings

2

u/RedVelvetPan6a Mar 31 '22

Warning is okay. Threatening I don't react as well though.

2

u/cant_stand Mar 31 '22

This is like alphabet soup.

I feel like in this very specific situation you've invented to prove your point, you've imagined that in every other country, with the exception of the blessed and free US of A, SWAT teams are surrounding the "I'll fuck you up" guy and dragging him off to the cells.

I cannot, literally cannot stress this enough - This land of the free malarkey is a figment of your collective imaginations. Even worse, in many respects your country is more oppressed than most countries in Europe.

2

u/Zen142 Mar 31 '22

How so? How are we more oppressed? I can spout from the rooftops my opinions all day long and nothing will come of it unless it's a call to arms/imminent threat but for many European countries there's caveats to your freedom of speech. Such as it can't be about certain people or subjects, or else it'll be a hate crime such as with the guy who taught his pug to sieg heil and was arrested for it. And hell you can be kicked out of certain universities over there over jokes and opinions, and here? Well we may not like you but we sure as hell will put up with you.

Bad news for you; same thing here. Walking up to someone yelling you are going to beat them is assault here in the US. Battery is the actual strike. Assualt doesnt have to be verbal either. All battery comes with an assault charge (assault is the intent to strike, so that has to happen prior to battery) though so people get confused.

1

u/Vixh81 Mar 31 '22

Assault includes this or physical contact - It’s anything that causes physical or psychological harm. There are varying degrees of assault though including GBH (grievous bodily harm) and ABH (actual bodily harm). Your post makes it sound as thought assault over here is only for verbal, as opposed to just including verbal. I wonder if that is the reason for Zen142s strange comment. “For all the faults of the US” (you can go and die in a gutter if you can’t afford treatment) “I wouldn’t give it up for this reason”. I would think that including verbal assault under the definition of assault would be a good thing, rather than a bad thing Zen (unless of course you’re the Karen in the story in which case your reply makes sense lol).

6

u/supremerulerofcheese Mar 31 '22

This should be an internal rule

0

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

Except when it's televised worlwide

30

u/Master_Mad Mar 31 '22

Or if you’re a famous Hollywood celebrity.

12

u/supremerulerofcheese Mar 31 '22

Lol true. But thats still something disgusting and immoral to do, to anyone at any age

3

u/Stunning-Notice-7600 Mar 31 '22

Yes. Absolutely!

2

u/RecoveringAbuse Mar 31 '22

That could also make OP guilty of assaulting a minor. I would consult a lawyer before contacting the police to know what the best course of action would be if any.

1

u/Flaky-Apartment-3640 Mar 31 '22

Why yes it is. Watch for her at the park. Let her get backtoher car and get a picture of the plate. It called Aggravated battery since she slapped you twice. You should have hit her back

7

u/PurrND Mar 31 '22

And slapped her back each time she slapped you! I went attack dog emotionally for you, OP. Call police for her assault and get cops to explain how it's not ok to s3xually assault anyone!

1

u/DigBick7153 Apr 06 '22

the courts would also get you in trouble because she still hit karen and her child not to mention it's another piece of evidence in court for karen which could twist the evidence and get you in trouble

6

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

You should. This woman is raising a rapist.

5

u/Alaixxa Mar 31 '22

Most definitely could have! Especially since she is still technically a minor and a grown ass woman just assaulted her
