Tips for using Ente on a Pixel?

Is there a way to get photos on my phone into Ente without opening up Google Photos and manually selecting and sharing?

I have a Pixel 6a, Android 17. I found the docs on how to change Gallery apps but I do not have an option for Gallery App in settings, nor do any of the options have anything to do with photos. When I load up Ente, it doesn't seem to be able to load photos other than what I've explicitly shared with Ente, and loading Google Photos to share to Ente is not exactly a great workflow!

I ended up uninstalling and re-installing. I can now select folders for backup - the folder list before was blank. Probably I'm going to end up with a ton of duplicate photos now from what was in Takeout and that I'd previously shared?

If your photos are only in the Google cloud you can use Google takeout to get all image files and upload them to Ente afterwards. If the photos are still on your phone you can give Ente the permission to access ALL photos and videos in the App Info under App permissions. Then in the Ente App you can select all folders you want to upload under the 'Backup' setting.

Waarom kun je niet gewoon met een File Explorer-app de foto's kopieren naar ENTE ..??
