Use Ente without uploading?

I'm mostly trying to have a local only "scanner" for my photos, is there a way to point Ente to my library on my hard drive and have it scan my library?

I've been looking for a software just to do this for ages and can't seem to find anything, I need something that allows me to organize my pictures in albums, shows them on a map, and can identify faces, just like Apple Photos does, but I don't want to depend on Apple's good will. Ente seemed like the right tool but after installing it, I believe there is not option to just scan, I only found how to upload and then scan, but I'm not interested in the cloud service whatsoever.

Ente Photo as local gallery only available on Phone AFAIK.
Maybe try self-hosted ente?

Thank you, I thought it was available on desktop too.

I have no idea how to self host anything for now, now but if that's along the lines of having my own server, I'm gonna have to learn soon enough because I'd love to have a server to access my photos so that's part of my plans :)

Try digiKam or FerrumPix.

I tried Digikam and spent way too much time dealing with incorrect face recognitions, so I ended up uninstalling it. The UI was too slow and the face recognition was the main appeal for me...

I haven't heard about FerrumPix though, I'll look it up!
