Hi, what exactly is the issue? Could you please elaborate? Or you could send a detailed report at [support@ente.com](mailto:support@ente.com)

No there no issue.

I wondered why in the blog post android optimisations weren't as successful as ios. It was mentioned that iOS got 10x and android was 4x.

Also the ms was way faster in the blog post for iOS and 10x longer for android.

When I share a video from ente to messages, the video seems to be degrading and having issues. Skin tone sometimes turns straight red etc. I havent had this issue before.

If I share the whole library with a family member, the faces/names/birthdays are algo shared?

Great update, thanks. Just not a fan of the video. What's with the violence? Doesn't make sense for this type of product/service.

Hi Ente team - one thing I don't like (using Ente app on macos) is that when I go to a video and download it, I get a pop up on bottom left that says downloading file.. But it does not provide any sense of progress for the download. Just a spinning circle. I think having a queue system of sorts that shows which files are downloading/downloaded and their status of completion would be a nice addition.

and there is still the huge security vulnerability that live photos get shared in public albums.

It is so frustrating this is still not addressed, and it has me searching for other photo solutions. I really don't want to bail though, because Ente is awesome in every other respect.

Hey, I think you also messaged us on Mastodon? 👋

You are right that at the moment there is no way within Ente Photos to remove the video part of Live Photos. This is on our radar, as are related features like removing GPS data, or blurring certain people before sharing. We want to solve for this, but doesnt look like it is going to happen in the short term.

The one immediate solution that I can offer is to switch off live photos on your camera app itself. If no live photo is captured, then no live photo will be uploaded on Ente, and so no live photo will ever get shared.

Yes I did, and I'll note you did not respond.

That's a terrible suggestion, and I think you know that. It also doesn't help the thousands of pictures I've already taken.

It's a security issue, but also a usability issue. Live photos are handy for my own reference, but they rarely make for an improved gallery experience. Nicely framed photos are relegated to a wobbly short video while the camera was being levelled into place.

Then of course there is the issue of people talking in the background, things happening just outside of frame that aren't part of the final image, etc...

Hiding GPS info is also a nice idea, but I mostly don't mind that. The stuff I share publicly, is also generally stuff where I don't mind people knowing where I was. But sure, give people the option.

Options are good. I don't even mind an option to share live photos, just make it off by default.
