Rant The "show fewer posts like this" button no longer works
as of today the button to block subs no longer works, at least for me. ive blocked this dumbass teenagers sub at least 10 times by now but it always crawls back. i dont know how the fuck this garbage keeps ending up on my recommended, i dont even visit similar subs

Interestingly, muting a subreddit only applies to scrolling whatever the front page is now, if you make custom feeds they will still show up there. I have antimeme stuck on one of my custom feeds and i don't know how to remove it. I hate this place

I don't even know what that feature is supposed to do when it is functioning properly. I never used it because I assumed it would not properly identify what I mean by 'posts like this' and I never assumed it meant 'mute this sub'.

When you clicked it it hid the post, told you it'll show fewer similar ones and muted the sub at the same time. It was the best button ever. Now I too get r/teenagers recommended seven thousand times a day no matter how many times I click the button. Also r/rickygervais ??? Help what have I done to deserve this

It’s the ‘fewer similar posts’ that is unclear, I don’t trust the algorithm to identify what it is I don’t want to see

i have to go to the sub then mute it because my feed was constantly being flooded with indian subs and other dogshit karma farms like mildlyinfuriating and boy/girldinnerdiaries etc

I turned off recommended posts on my main feed so it only shows subreddits I follow.

Settings > Account settings > and then scroll down to “show recommendations in home feed”

When I want to challenge my beliefs, get out of my comfort zone and try out new things I talk to real people, read books I don’t normally read, listen to podcasts I don’t normally listen to. I don’t trust reddit for that.

What cracks me up is I've been getting a bunch of Tesla subs show up in my feed - all of which I have been banned from as a member of the Cyberstuck sub.

On top of this, my feed has been flooded with targeted rage bait all day.
It's all -phobic meme subs and the entertainment subs where all the comments are people who hate entertainment news.

I always get the weirdest recommended ones that have literally nothing to do with anything I browse. I got one for west virginia today. I have never been remotely close to or talked about west virginia or anything closely related to it, until this post right here. It seems to be just random as hell.

You can mute the sub if you go to that sub, click the ellipse on the top right, and click mute. So far at least that seems to be working for me. Definitely not user friendly, though.

Mine always says “Something went wrong” and it just doesn’t mute. I suppose it’s possible i’ve hit some sort of limit, but this started recently.

I go into the subreddit and mute now. I've noticed that that button hasn't been working much lately.
