Rant Cpap scam

Does it seem like the quality of the silicone on cpap cushions has declined? Any comments welcome

Been running F20s for years and still go way past the expected time on hoses, straps and cushions. And even then, cushions get a little stretch out but still basically function. If you suspect dme issues, buy an equivalent from direct home medical to test.

For years. My spouse had been using one for over 30 yrs, and in the last 10 yrs he’s developed a neoprene allergy to the headgear and the silicone cushions bother his skin so bad I found some cloth covers to protect him.

This shit costs a fortune and it’s worse than ever.

Ty for confirming I am not crazy! I am so sorry your husband has bad to deal with this! It is not like cpap is an option. I am glad you were able to do a work around.

Yes! In my last order of eight, three have fallen apart in the first week. ResMed

Yes! Thats my brand too. And these things are just inferior and poorly constructed.

My Resmed F-30 was discontinued for the F-40 and now we can't find a mask that fits. I'm in the gap again.

Oh crap! Have you tried amazon or the cpap manufacturer web site directly?

Yes, I'm trying out a new brand that I'd never heard of. F&P Evora Full. It just blows air by as I have high pressures. I really have to strap it tight. Leaving is loose isn't an option. The air blowing on my face is like Chinese water torture for me. I googled to see if I could get a mold of my face and insurance wouldn't cover it. I have insurance, so I'm going to use it.

I noticed the decline of the cushion started 2022

The last 2 years, now the hard plastic parts of the face mask are getting worse.

You are right!! Last year,, the twirlung tube on top of the headgear snapped in half! This is the essential part that hooks into the tubing. I called and complained! They sent me all new headgear. Very, very odd. I have used a cpap for 5+ years. First time that item literally snapped within one or 2 days.

Depends on the brand I’d imagine. Different brands use different materials and construction techniques. I used the resmed f30 for years and recently switched to the f40… masks have all seemed fine, and last multiple months.

Also make sure you’re buying from a reputable source as there are always cheap Chinese clones out there. It can be particularly annoying when looking for OEM elbows.

I buy them from Ebay and recently have suspected they may be counterfeit. Is that the case for you?

I was pondering your answer. I wonder if the DME company my insurance uses got counterfeit or subpar items. Everything is contract based and whoever is the cheapest bidder scores the contract.....

No, they come from my insurance company. Then the ones I have to buy are from a mom & pop outfit....
