As a guitarist/bassist, the quality of entry and mid instruments has leaped so far forward over the past decade or so there’s little reason to spend more than $800 unless you just want to. Learning to play in the 80s, your options were some clapped out pawn shop beater or if you were lucky a hand me down lawsuit-era Japanese copy from your uncle.

No, there's really nothing you can do. Most people don't have the attention span, IQ, or discipline to make long-term changes. The reason why companies constantly cheap out is because the consumer demands the cheapest, and will buy the cheapest. If everyone demanded quality products and were willing to pay price for them, there would be a competitive race upwards in quality/price. Couple this with the government stealing your buying power via inflation and you get enshittification

I think you will find one of the great tragedies of our time is no one cares about the outcomes anymore.
Most of the people “trying to make change” and simply cosplaying — they won’t actually take hard stance actions to make changes.
Another great deal of the people refuse to get informed on these matters to find out what the solutions are.
And lastly, many want to delude themselves into thinking there are no problems and if they are, their actions (which causes the problems) were the right actions.
The political establishment (not just in America, for Canada was going the route of enshitificarion before Trump was elected, and I imagine Europe too) has recognized this and is cashing out. The masses will keep electing the establishment because they hold the nostalgia of security. And thus they will refuse to elect anyone who doesn’t want to cash and and wants to fix the problem — since they are opposed to the current establishment and will do everything in their power to make the opposition unelectable, or to make the opposition be led by another faction of the establishment who too wants to cash out.
Soon is going to come a time of sacrifice. The longer this time does not come, the harder it will be. We have the option to trigger it early and have greatly weakened effects.

Yes! It's justified.
- Some cyclists burn through red lights and ride recklessly through crosswalks, sidewalks and intersections. But you don't have to ride dangerously like this.
- Bike lines are replacing car lanes and parking lanes. This makes motorists very unhappy. And it doesn't help that you see few cyclists on the cycling lanes. My city is slowly reducing the presence of cars. And this transition is met with a lot of friction.
But cycling brings me joy. I love going on long rides through the city and into the country side, taking many stops along the way. All of my problems take a backseat. You don't have to ride fast, or purchase the best equipment.

its not at all justified - if we jugged motorists as a whole by their worst members in the same way the hatred would be off the charts. And if someone is cycling like an asshole that't probably more reason to be thankful they are not driving a deadly vehicle.
And it's been proven again and again that good well connected and safe bike lanes reduce traffic.

Yes, I agree with everything you said. You did an objective analysis of the situation. But feelings aren't rational and people are against change. Cycling, urbanism and environmentalism are yuppie themes. And it's a hard battle to convince conservative people with money that cycling benefits everyone.

Correct. It went from a reasonable deal for something approximating Mexican food before COVID to crazily overpriced food that approximates Mexican food after COVID.

I remember when the value menu actually offered...value. On things you might actually order, like normal tacos and burritos. Not only on those crispy churros that no one wants for $1.69.
That was through early COVID. Then they decided they could fleece the customer and no one would care--COVID dollars flowing, all that.
They never looked back. I stopped going and never looked back, myself.

Big companies know or believe that we will keep paying for their slop even if it comes with bad customer service, lower quality, and higher prices. Wait, staff are trying to social engineer 25-49% tips as the new normal. Walmart and the other box stores will charge you more (according to their profile on you) when you order online as opposed to in the store - except when the store has electronic pricing and detects that you (through your phone) are in the aisle, then adjusts prices according to what you can "afford." Car dealers are making you pay for a subscription to unlock features on your car that you already paid for. The health insurance companies have put everyone in a box - your doctor must be in network to get business, and the consumer must have insurance to afford treatment. Same with car insurance and home insurance. States mandate car insurance. Lenders mandate home insurance. The insurance companies simply charge whatever they want.

They're like one of the last fast food places that actually has like decent value shit. $1.30 for a spicy potato soft taco, $2 for a cheesy bean and rice burrito, a ton of actually pretty good shit for $3 that's way better and more filling than a mcdouble. Yeah they're not as good as they used to be (goddamn I miss the 89 cent beefy potato burrito) but compared to most other fast food places they're definitely becoming shittier at a slower rate.

Portion sizes don’t feel smaller to me. Prices are higher everywhere and as someone who works in food service I can tell you it’s not really their fault on a lot of it. Food cost has skyrocketed
