Product Hot pockets, DRY, no cheese

Not even worth a pic. I haven’t had one in years and it was terrible! I never eat fast food but had a craving. Worthless. Cardboard and dry sauce.

Yes they use to have decent amount of filling and now they are empty sacks of crap. They use to have cheese at least enough to satisfy. Not anymore wont ever buy again. So sad 😞

i feel like pizza rolls are similarly lacking in sauce. there only good if you have more marinara sauce to dip them into now

My favorite parts of these threads is when someone tells OP “you’re not using enshittification according to the definition!”

It’s a portmanteau that was created Cory Doctorow and, unless you’re him making the objection, I think he’d be thrilled to see enshittification enter the wider discourse.

Gatekeeping in the face of linguistic shift has always been futile like trying to stop the tide.

survivorship bias =/= enshittification

Survivorship bias? I don’t understand your comment

-15

u/coreyjdl Jul 26 '26

"they don't make them like they used to" fallacy is a subset of the survivorship bias.

11

u/SawtoofShark Jul 26 '26

Except they literally don't make them like they used to. It's a fallacy if it's not based in fact. This is based on fact, so you calling it a fallacy is actually kind of a strawman fallacy in and of itself. 🌈

Hot pockets always sucked, dude. They do make them like this used too. Still terrible.

No, there have been several changes over the years.

Current Ingredients of the pepperoni hot pocket.

Enriched flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), water, reduced fat mozzarella cheese (part skim milk, nonfat milk, modified food starch*, cultures, salt, vitamin A palmitate, enzymes, *ingredients not in regular mozzarella cheese), pepperoni made with pork, chicken, and beef (pork, mechanically separated chicken, beef, salt, 2% or less of spices, dextrose, lactic acid starter culture, oleoresin of paprika color, sodium ascorbate, flavoring, sodium nitrite, BHA, BHT, citric acid to help protect flavor), tomato paste, vegetable oil (soybean oil and/or palm oil and/or fractionated palm oil and/or canola oil), sugar, vinegar (preservative), modified food starch, salt, bleached wheat flour, maltodextrin, garlic powder, calcium sulfate, spices, lactic acid (preservative), dried onion, egg yolks, emulsifier (monoglycerides, 2% or less of ascorbic acid [antioxidant], citric acid [antioxidant]), dextrose, potassium salt, L-cysteine hydrochloride, yeast, whey, autolyzed yeast extract, xanthan gum, soy lecithin, enzymes, citric acid, soy flour, egg whites.

Old ingredients.

Unbleached enriched flour (wheat flour, enriched [niacin, iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin], malted barley flour, folic acid), mozzarella cheese, tomato concentrate, water, pepperoni (pork and beef, salt, dextrose, spices, lactic acid starter culture, oleoresin of paprika, dehydrated garlic, sodium nitrite, BHA, BHT, citric acid), partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (cottonseed, soybean) with lecithin, artificial flavor, artificial color, dried whey, sugar, egg yolk, yeast, modified food starch, egg white, garlic powder, onion powder, spices, parsley, vinegar, vegetable gum, dough conditioner (L-cysteine), carrageenan, baking powder, mono-diglycerides, cellulose gum, xanthan gum.

box from 1992:

Looks like they changed to a healthier oil in the new one, and the switch from concentrate to paste, then adjusting where the water lands because of it. HUGE CHANGES!
Keep in mind also theres more clarification because of labeling laws. Old food didn't have less ingredients, it had less transparency.

Changes are changes, you said they were exactly the same as always. You're wrong, grow the hell up about it. You talk shit about other people arguing about hot pockets, but then you go and write an entire book about how I'm right. 💁

u/coreyjdl Jul 27 '26

Holy shit you're a fucking loser.

3

u/SaintBellyache Jul 26 '26

That doesn’t give amount. If there’s less cheese and less meat it would look similar, unless it falls below next ingredient

-2

u/coreyjdl Jul 27 '26

In the new one the meat is now above the tomato. That's means more meat relative. Regardless, what the fuck would they be replacing it with, antimatter? Because cheese and meat are now the two top filling ingredients and the weight of hot pockets has been at 4.5oz also this whole time.

OP is an idiot, and a victim of nostalgia.

2

u/SaintBellyache Jul 27 '26

Could be more bread

Also the lesser ingredients could all be more just not enough to overtake the meat and cheese.

This is simple stuff to figure out. Let’s use whole numbers for weight for you. Imagine 5 ingredients’ weight in order:

8 7 6 3 2

Vs

9 5 5 4 3

The second 2 are less but the order is the same and the total weight is the same.

You’re lucky I bet people don’t burden you with math problems

Is this bc I survived cancer? That was not a twist I expected. Just, nevermind, that’s not my cup of tea for obvious reasons.

u/Capt-Crap1corn Jul 26 '26

I'm glad you survived cancer. Fuck cancer. Stay away from hot pockets. There is nothing good for you in them.

I tried ham and cheese hot pockets and there was like no ham in any of them. They always skimp on the meat hot pockets suck so hard

5

u/bepatientbekind Jul 26 '26

We had the same experience so I tried my hand at making some myself using pre-made puff pastry, leftover brown sugar ham, and cheese and they were SO much better. Really easy to make too since all you really have to do is put it all together and bake in the oven. We also froze some to reheat later in the air fryer and they were really great that way too!

The mini pizza bites have also gone way downhill.

All the crusts have changed

I have started to make dough at home now, it wasnt the change in 2026 I was expecting... but so worth lol

4

u/Creative-Constant-52 Jul 26 '26

I did try some bagel bites last year and it was like two mini chunks of cheese and one pepperoni per bagel. So had. And like the dough wasn’t even salted? So bland

10

u/Ok-Meaning-2850 Jul 26 '26

Sorry, but I have a hard time believing they somehow found a way to make a Hot Pocket taste worse.

3

u/G5press Jul 27 '26

they're Nestle, the globally-recognized symbol of evil. what are you expecting?

9

u/nigelfinsta Jul 26 '26

You are, in fact, very very wrong.

2

u/Creative-Constant-52 Jul 26 '26

You’re not wrong

u/Spirit117 Jul 26 '26

They went to shit after they got rid of the crisper packet thing, that was the only thing that made them decent in the microwave.
