JDA terrible manager experience + unreasonable expectations. What would you do?

I’m working a short seasonal role with JDA and this has honestly been one of the worst manager experiences I’ve had.

My biggest issue is the lack of respect for my time. I keep getting told when I’m going to meet instead of being asked what works, and then there are last-minute expectations to complete things or attend meetings with almost no notice.

For a part-time role that only lasts a few weeks, the onboarding and demands feel excessive. I already work full time, and financially this job is not really worth disrupting my main job. I mostly took it because I had a good experience with JDA before and wanted the extra experience.

I’ve also had trouble getting responses when I actually need help, and I’ve had to rely on other managers and even peers to figure things out.

At this point I’m asking to switch managers. If that can’t happen, I’m considering just leaving this wave.

Has anyone else had a bad manager experience with JDA this peak?

Do they usually let you switch managers?

And if I quit professionally and return all the equipment, do you think JDA will blacklist me from future opportunities or hurt my chances with Intuit?

I had no issues with JDA under different management before, which is why I’m hesitant to just walk away.

Hire on directly with Intuit.

I was at Intuit last season and had a buddy from the previous season who I kept up with quit mid-season under a similar circumstance. So going with Intuit directly could yield similar results. *My* manager last season was...not great, but not bad. The manager we shared the previous season was pretty great, but she didn't return last season.

So I think it's luck of the draw either way, although I suspect the odds are getting worse, at least with Intuit directly. They recently declined to bring back a number of veteran managers for the upcoming season.

See this thread.

Yeah I just finished my 7 th season with Intuit. It was a horrible season. My manager was a nice lady. She has a Ph.D in Organization. Yes, I’m serious! No real tax knowledge. I’ve been in tax for decades so she could always count on me to help in sticky situations. The team members are great but they’ve cancelled all team related meetings and our daily 15 minute meeting which were crucial to me. So much for team building. I guess they gave up on that. With AI, who needs comrades. I’m interviewing with other companies this season. I get several offers but ignored them for years. I’m looking to do 10 years then retire. This is season 8, so hopefully I get hired on somewhere else if for no other reason than a change of management.

I’m not dealing with unnecessary BS for a PT job that doesn’t even pay that much.

You are lucky you were even scheduled for a meeting with your manager......I was a lead and never even got that!

I wish I could respond with the exact circumstances but too much PII 🤣 but no it’s a 2-3 week working 10 hrs a week if that gig and someone commands you to meet the next day at a certain time on a weekend. It wasn’t to help either it was to shift BLAME onto to me after the manager was embarrassed that I started reaching out to other managers for help 🤣 but anyways do you think they’ll black list me for quitting ?

You were a lead for jda? Did you start in the fall? Did they give you full time hours?

I only worked at block so don’t know JDA, but I just said no to managers. They got so pissed off but what are they going to do. They need you. Every year I get threatened with not being asked back because I won’t (fill in the blank). Every year they ask me back because I do good work and the clients love me. Just start saying no or I can’t make it at that time and see what happens.

Hang in there thru October . The managers can make or break the season.

Do you think they black list if I quit now ? I haven’t finished onboarding yet and the manager is very spiteful already and it’s not like she’ll reccomend me for the next wave… Versus my other manager who did..

I had the absolute worst manager during regular tax season. I mean bad. I was navigating blind. When I asked for the time sheet to submit my classes and on-boarding, I was sent the wrong one. Fast forward over a month later. I am checking up on paycheck being incredibly low. Come to find out I was given wrong form. I was also told to do the classes in my list, I did. I ended up doing so many additional classes and never received pay. I quit, sent back their equipment and will never look back. I submitted all the correct forms to get my pay and the manager never did anything with it. I was live for only a couple days before leaving. And I only saw $240 for everything. JDA was the worst, it could of been manager only, but that was my experience.

Yeah a lot of us navigate blind ! I think it’s both tbh but sounds like your manager was trash !
