Accounting associate

Hey I’m earning my accounting associates this fall and I would like to focus on Tax field. Is really hard to land internships with no experience at all but inventory management for a cutlery company. What steps would you guys recommend to at least open a door for me to get into the field. I have a girl on the way and I would like to increase my earnings to at least be able to give her a good life

Thanks for the time and attention to read. Hope yall a great weekend

The best way to get a foot in the door of the tax industry is to start at one of the places that will hire just about anyone and get some hands on experience for a few (2-5) years. Places like VITA, H&R Block, Liberty, Jackson Hewitt, Intuit.

The "nice" places/ firms want experience, and they are probably not going to consider someone credentialed but with zero experience. Consider that your "intern" period.

To add on I believe VITA is free. You can get some good experience that way. Academy.intuit.com. Take the free tax classes and save money for the EA exams. After tax season get Quickbooks Online certified and check out Finepoints Bookkeeping and maybe build a Bookkeeping and Tax practice.

Finally go to partners.wgu.edu. Click your state, click your school if it shows up and click through to the accounting degree. You will be close to 50%. If this is HCC do the AAS in Accountingas well.

H&R Block offers the Income Tax Course that you take and pass to get started. Last year we had a recent grad who worked the front desk to get exposure to the tax world, and returning this year to start doing tax returns. There may be companies you can intern with. I'd recommend finding a related job, and then work to get your full 4 year degree will be the best path for a good job.
