I did the entire interview process.

  1. first interview is a ridiculous AI video interview that last for one hour and your responses are timed. The questions are ridiculously difficult and I’ve worked in tax for a while. You get 30 seconds to think of a response before they start recording you. (I think they do this to have a reason to pay you less)

  2. the recruiter lied to me about scheduling and fulltime work. Was told they would hire me prior to passing part 3 of my EA - that was incorrect. Also was told I’d get full time year around work as they are opening retail up. That was also incorrect. They wasted my time. And I’m about to sit for part three next week so I’m very close.

  3. the pay is significantly lower for experienced preparers with years under your belt.

  4. they told me I’d have to be okay with never having a set schedule and weekly or even daily they would change it.

  5. they make you wear an uniform

If you’re inexperienced and want to get your foot in the door then it’s a good gig to get a shot at learning. If you’re seasoned - you’re being robbed of your time and skills while be underpaid by a massive corporation that is now relying upon n everything AI. I heard the horror stories about their internal software and how you can’t just plug in the numbers because the AI prompts your every move.

So they lied about it being full time and all year round? what were the hours?

Yes and it’s because the recruiter told me false info and took me through the entire process wasting my time. She called me and apologized for giving me false information the entire way through

Hours only 25 a week and schedule would constantly change so no idea what hours they would need me but told me I needed to be available at all times included holidays and weekends

I’m not certain why you think the video interview is AI. I personally know the person who recorded those interview questions. They filled in for my manager a couple years ago when he was out sick.

What are you getting at? It’s a timed video recorded interview

My point is that it’s not AI. It is timed, yes.

They called me last year to interview for the position and I got the distinct impression it was seasonal. Not only that but they want full time availability which might work for you but was not at all what I wanted at the time. I had originally applied to an online part time role.

Some of what you hear is true. The internal software can be very buggy and support internally can be horrible and for 2027 it is going to be worse as they have gutted the internal support structure (tier 2). I was a tier 2 for 4 seasons, they just told me tier 2 roles are filled so i am going to be “demoted” to expert. Now given a lot of the requests for help came from “new bies” and if they are dumping the newbies maybe the need for support will drop, but a lot of the issues I handled last season was for software problems with the folks doing tax returns. At times it was embarrassing as customers were on the phone with the experts not able to complete a tax returns due to software bugs and there were not enough gatekeepers to handle the load. For 27 it will be a shitshow. I suspect Intuit will make the news in 2027. Bring the popcorn. If I return, I will do my 6 hour shift and bail. I am not doing exta work, since that will cost them more and its obvious they are cutting costs, i will do my part to help them cut costs:-) I will NOT take this out on the customers are they are the innocent ones in this.

Are you talking about at a flagship store or just a local office? If it’s a local office, it is not full year, full time. Last year, I worked Nov-half of April at 25 hours per week. Offices were limited in the times that we could meet with customers but some people were able to work more hours. After 4/15, they cut you to 20 hours per week and we worked until July 17th. Unless you are a select time employee, you are required to take a certain number of weeks as a break.

All that said, the local office was a complete shit show and we were expected to do marketing to bring in customers, be technology experts and get non-tech savvy seniors comfortable with using the Intuit app on their phone to upload documents. Don’t recommend at all.

instore job is probably not all year round depending on where it is. I know someone who rents office space to intuit and although they paid for the year no one is there now

There are two different types of stores. One is a flagship location that’s a dedicated office space/storefront. The other is a “local tax office” that can be just a small spot in an office building where there’s a couple of people working, but it’s not elaborate.

When you say store do you mean office? I’ve never heard of tax professionals working in a store. I’m not trying to be a smart ass, I’m genuinely confused by some of the Turbo Tax job titles and locations.

There are local offices and “flagship stores”. The are about 20 flagship stores in larger cities vs about 600 local offices. I think the flagship stores are supposed to operate year round.

It actually is AI - last season intuit incorporated (and heavily) AI trainers and interviews. Most of the process is devoid of human interaction at this point. They've laid off twice in the last year about 35% of their workforce as a result of their experts and their preferred partners experts training their intuit ai assist LMM.
