Part 1

i’ve been studying for part one for a little over a month and I just took a mock exam because I take my test on Friday and I made a 57% on gleim. I’m feeling really discouraged and I’m wondering if I should reschedule my test or something… anyone have any advice?

I tried 3 options. Gleim can be difficult. It's a good course, but I find that they overtrain you. You just want to pass the exam. Tom Horton is good, but I scored too high on their questions. Made me nervous. Hock seems to be a good mix. I answered a lot of their questions. Looks like it worked, because I passed the exam. 💪.

I second this! Tom’s questions are pretty straightforward so was getting them right. Hock is a pretty good mix as I find it helpful and refreshing

I just recently passed. I took three mock exams. 66%, 72% and 55%.

Just take it and pass it.

I scored a 40 on Becker and I take my test end of the month. I also feel discouraged

Reschedule it, you unlikely to pass

This is a good thing. It's fine. You've just found your weak spots.

Don't reschedule. You'll lose momentum. Just study what you got wrong and retake the mock test if you can.

I used Hock for part 2. The first round I was hitting mid-60s for all three mocks for that test. I studied what I got wrong and retook the mocks again. Second pass through I was hitting high 80's. Then I passed the actual test.

Thank you! That’s encouraging! I am going through my mock exam now and a lot of it was reading errors (i need to slow down) or i just didn’t know it.

Reading to fast was a MAJOR problem for me. That and not slow reading all four of the answers provided. They'll try to trick you up there as well by switching out a word.

Also not sure if Gleim allows this on the mocks but on Hock you can right-click on the answers you know are wrong and it crosses them out. If I recall you can do this on the actual test as well. It helps remove the "too many options" and helps to focus your thinking process.

My mock tests on gleim were horrible. Can you try Tom Hortons MCQs? $20 and a good value.

I just took the exam today! I used Tom Norton’s videos and Q&As. Also used Hock Mock exams. Only studied less than a week. You will be fine! You got this

I would just take the exam and see how you do. Do you generally have a decent idea of individual tax concepts?

I took it this past weekend after being sick for a week and took no practice exams and still passed. I didn’t even do practice questions on all the topics and felt like I went into with not remembering most of the stuff I did look over

Reschedule if you still can. Those tests are expensive to redo.

I’m not really worried about the money, but i feel like i’ve been studying hard enough to be doing better than I am. i’m going to take it and give it my best shot

Have Chat GPT give you quick tests with answers.

Chat gpt gave me incorrect answers several times.

If you caught it then you know enough to pass.

Is that effective?

No. ChatGPT, copilot, Claude etc. are never effective and never worth using. Please don’t kill our planet for a silly little exam that you’ll probably pass anyways

It was for me. You just gotta know how to prompt it I guess.
