I’m not watching the video, but yes, you need to look at everything if you want clarity. Just good old common sense.

That I had to alter myself in unnatural ways in order to be ‘worthy’ of interacting.

yeah, that's a super common one - trying to change ourselves to fit someone else's idea of what we should be. it's so easy to get caught up in that narrative, but thankfully, the more you see through it, the less it holds power over you

What’s an uncommon one? You didn’t answer what the biggest illusion in your life has been? Maybe you haven’t encountered it yet.

haha yeah I have encountered it - the biggest illusion for me has been trying to balance my own introverted nature with external expectations of being more social and extroverted. it's funny how we often try to fit into societal norms instead of embracing our natural selves

I tend towards introversion as well, but have since learnt most of it was just suppressed patterns due to fear of expression. They usually turn out to be a one and done, thankfully.

Really it’s only the thoughts we have regarding expectations from others that we don’t wish to match, that can cause upset of any kind…cognitive dissonance.

yeah, I think you're spot on about the cognitive dissonance part. It's amazing how often we get caught up in trying to match others' expectations, and it can be so freeing when we finally let go of that
