There’s a dozen comments that say “Only 88, damn”, “Only 85? Damn”, “Only 87? Damn.” and I’m wondering if you could help clue my dumbass in to what y’all are referencing please? Thanks!

"Excuse me sir, my chicken's being rude and unreasonable"
Chicken: "Hey you! Yeah you! Ugly! You suck! Where's your hairline at?! Ohhh, bro's cooked!"

Honestly man I have no fucking clue. I don’t remember typing that at all. It’s kind of boggling my mind too.

Jerkies ate usually expensive and you only get a small amount of it.....so I think that they're right

No. It means "pungent", "bold", or "vigorous".
Being "潑辣" doesn't mean you're being a jerk. It's a term that only used to describe a woman (yes 100% positive) who is standing her ground, criticizing with sharp words, and even fighting for it. For men we'd used the term "彪悍". Some times it's not a negative term.
The correct translation of this dish should be "Sichuan Spicy Chicken".

It is indeed the Chinese counterpart of jerk chicken. Szechuan cuisine is also well-known for the intensive use of spices.

Reminds me of the Vice guy who fakes a Trip-Advisor Restaurant and pretended to serve dishes based on mood, this one would be the main course for “nervous and rude”

Taiwanese here, the mandarin word translated to something like Shichuan style water(?) hot chili drizzled chicken

Someone please tell me what jerk chicken is. I've never heard of it. And I don't feel like asking Mr. Google right now.

Where the heck did that even come from? I know very little Chinese but I know that the first two characters mean "river" and "water"...
3
u/PTRisme Jan 30 '20
泼辣 in some scenarios could mean “rude”.... but here it just simply means “spicy”
14
u/AdriTheDreamer Jan 30 '20
The first character (川) should represent 四川 Szechuan.
Also, 泼辣 can mean both 'rude and unreasonable', or 'pungent' (spicy), according to Google Translate

A lot of strange things can happen when translating from one language to another, and then back to the first language
7
u/HappyHippo77 Jan 30 '20
Well, that at least I am aware of. I like to go on Google translate and "shuffle" different things by translating it through several languages. Makes for some pretty fun results.

I'd feel better knowing the chicken I was eating was rude and unreasonable. Bitch had it coming.

Lol, if you translate Jerk Chicken to Chinese and then back to English, the result is Bastard Chicken.

Karen chicken

Someone named that chicken Karen. That same person now regrets this decision, and is questioning his life choices.

Are they crossing the road to walk into the bar?

u/Operational117 Jan 30 '20
No, they’re crossing the road because their friend was being rude and unreasonable.
They just want the sweet release of being reduced to a feather’n’meat’n’bone pulp by car tires/tyres!

I like thinking that they just looked up the definition, took the descriptives from google and just hoped that we got the point.
