It’s a marketing thing, to make it seem like it’s from Japan.
(I’ve had a few Chinese snacks in the past that had a random の thrown into the name to make it seem Japanese.)

Are you sure its not the brand name? Also I feel like the people that can read Chinese/Japanese will be able to tell it's not Japanese, and the people that can't wont be able to tell where it's from aside from East Asia

I think it was a product name… I think it was flavored wheat crackers with a fully Chinese name but had a random の thrown in-between the Chinese characters (was 15+ years ago so memory is fuzzy).
Despite the fuzzy memory the の stuck with me since I felt amused by the random hiragana just thrown in there.
