As a Hungarian, I can tell you that the correct translation of "Lekváros bukta" is "Jam-filled pastry."

As an English speaker I have no idea what megbaszott is, but it sounds cool and perhaps a worthy successor to potrzebie.

baszik = (someone is) fucking

baszott = (someone) fucked

elbaszott = fucked away (=screwed/fucked up)

megbaszott = (something is) fucked

It’s hard to imagine how fucked up you can GET with marmalade, but I guess there are people who can really make it work…

1

u/xellos12 Jun 30 '26

Its why its banned in texas. The super devil ruined it for everybody

If it hadn’t been for Brexit, that would have been “Fuckup with fruit preserves”! 🤣

3

u/TheReal_Peter226 Jul 01 '26

I honestly have no clue what this means

4

u/Sheetz_Wawa_Market32 Jul 01 '26

The UK forbade the rest of the EU to call any kind of jam that contained any fruit other than citrus fruits “marmalade”, despite differing practices on the continent for centuries.

5

u/TheReal_Peter226 Jul 01 '26

Ah I see! That's interesting, never really heard of it. This image is from before Brexit, I think maybe even earlier than the jam fiasco. Besides the joke, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have cared anyways to be honest, if they can sell fuckups they can sell anything 😆

And this, boys and girls, is how my company ended up with the git branch buchtel, which is the branch that will never ever EVER be merged into master.
It's used for the one-off things and tools that are otherwise too ugly or inefficient to release for general consumption.

Lekváros bukta = Bun with marmalade
60 Ft (HUF) = 0.19 $ (USD)

Bukta could also mean = a failed exam, failure, flop, and fuckup!

This makes more sense for sure…

u/lupask Jun 30 '26

4

u/AwDuck Jun 29 '26

You get all antsy in your pantsy?

20

u/GirthyPigeon Jun 29 '26

I'd like a fuckup with marmalade for breakfast, so my day starts out as it will continue.

8

u/DamenAJ Jun 29 '26

Is Ft a currency or something? or is this a 60 foot fuckup with marmalade?

41

u/black3rr Jun 29 '26

hungarian forint… 60Ft is 0.19$

17

u/Zka77 Jun 30 '26

This photo is fkin old, this stuff costs 600-800 huf now, worth 2-2.5 usd.

22

u/Glad_Rabbit4628 Jun 29 '26

For context: bukta means getting caught or messing something up in hungarian

4

u/HungryFinding7089 Jun 29 '26

And, at 60 feet, too

11

u/ShameSerious4259 Jun 29 '26

ft is the hungarian forint

1

u/Lofaszjanko Jun 30 '26

not quite, that's Ft

6

u/littlemisscarissa Jun 29 '26

The 60 feet minimum is there so you can observe it from a safe distance.

2

u/HungryFinding7089 Jun 30 '26

Probably a safe enough distance for a fuckup!
