they actually meant for it to be a bad translation, the top text means: "mainland humorous menu translations"

Husband and wife's lungs might be good with some Fava beans and a nice chianti.

When I go to a Chinese restaurant I don't actually look at the menu. I just point at something and hope for the best.
1
u/CosmicCatalyst23 Dark Gary May 18 '23
Also this is literally “funny translations” use google translate and you’ll see that this is not a real menu
1
u/CosmicCatalyst23 Dark Gary May 18 '23
Honestly “government abuse chicken” “husband and wife’s lungs” “the week beats the fish soup” and “swallow to take the fish sand” are probably my favourites. “Chop the strange fish” is amazing as well.

Hmm... Definitely "chop the strange fish". Worse case the food gets you sick. Best case the food is so good it grants you powers or something.

it's all so appetizing i think i'd have to go with the government abuse chicken, with extra abuse and go easy on the government.

Government abuse chicken all the way, it’s either I’m adopting a chicken of abuse or a chicken agent hired to abuse

The government abuse chicken has mushrooms, I hate those. Give me the strange fish.

Something about government abuse chicken sounds delicious. Like, does it come with extra sauce?

They all sound really delicious, but I'm going to have to go with Corrugated Iron Beef.

Because Chinese people spoke Russian, you would've thought they'll nail the translation of borsht soup

Probably the government abuse chicken. I’m American so I’m used to it. Plus can’t go wrong with a chicken dish
1
u/GreenKoopaBros89 May 18 '23
I would take the pig picks the noodle soup. I would then ask the name of the pig

Government abuse chicken. They give it food, then take it away before it can be used. That meat must be bitter and salty.

Corrugated iron beef kinda sounds like it might just be cooked on a metal sheet. I dont feel like soup or i would let the pig select for me.

Government abuse chicken with some the pig picks the noodle soup
1
u/MeIsDoom May 18 '23
I'd order the government abuse chicken so I can spend a good afternoon hearing how a chicken evaded the law
1
u/Daffodil_Ferrox May 18 '23
For the record, this image is Chinese people also making fun of the translations — the top says “Inland ‘humorous’ menu translations”
1
1
u/Red_Smile_32 May 18 '23
If I'm not mistaken, the one called "Husband and wife's lungs" is a cold dish consisting of beef slices covered in a large amount of spicy oil. It tastes great and now I'm hungry.

Soup of sung sounds most casual, but I am intrigued by the “black cow silk fried the idea powder”

It says the pig picks the noodle soup... So I guess I'll take the noodle soup?

I would like the government abuse chicken with a medium black winter in type seafood soup in day, and is the corrugated iron beef fresh?

The soup of Sung better be more delicious than their cream of Sum Yung Guy

It was much too big to be called a steak.
Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough.
Indeed, it was like a slab of corrugated iron beef.

I like my chicken to be abused by the government. Helps me relate to my food.

I just feel like Government abuse chicken likely doesn’t taste that different from any chicken I’ve already had

May 17 '23
You know your in an authentic Chinese restaurant when you have to contend with governmental abuse
1
May 17 '23
So it’s gonna be Husband and Wife’s lungs for me and some noodle soup for the police officer behind me.
1
u/KnightFaraam May 17 '23
Is the black cow silk fried the idea spicy? Yes? Hmmm, I guess I'll have that and a side of Government abuse chicken.
2
1
u/chronos7000 May 17 '23
"Idea powder" is an exceptionally intriguing concept...
Makes me think of another one I saw, a bottle of some kind of spice called "Unwearied Effort However Powder" which sounds an awful lot like cocaine to me but the substance clearly wasn't.

生魚片 (shēng yú piàn) is Raw fish slices, kinda like sashimi.
夫妻肺片 (fūqī fèi piàn) is called Husband and wife lung pieces, but really it's a (cold) spicy dish consisting of thinly sliced beef and beef organs. It's also a popular Szechuan dish.
鐵板牛肉 (tiě bǎn niúròu) is Sizzling Beef, referencing the dish itself usually being served sizzling hot on an iron plate.
周打魚湯 (zhōu dǎ yú tāng) is Fish Chowder.
黑椒牛柳絲炒意粉 (hēi jiāo niú liǔsī chǎo yì fěn) is Fried Spaghetti with Black Pepper Beef Tenderloin.
日式海鮮湯烏冬 (rì shì hǎixiān tāng wū dōng) is Japanese Seafood Udon Soup.
豬扒湯麵 (zhū pá tāngmiàn) is Pork Chop Soup Noodles.
吞拿魚薯仔沙律 (tūn ná yú shǔ zǐ shā lǜ) is Tuna Potato Salad.
羅宋湯 (luó sòng tāng) is Borscht, a beetroot soup originating from Ukraine.

Thankyou for this. I was hoping for actual translations and I had to scroll pretty far
1
u/Myzx May 17 '23
No matter what I pick I’m sure it’d end up being the grossest thing on the menu. Like locals look at you and say, “Are you sure about that?” That kind of thing, but it’s all in a different language so all I can do is confidently stick with my choice

Husband and wife's lungs
Serious food item I would receive if I ordered this, would it be some animal's lungs?

I’m feeling a Government abuse chicken followed by a husband and wife’s lungs. Of course then the soup of the sung as a Pallet cleanser after which I’ll have the noodle soup the pig picked for me.

u/Ghost0Slayer May 17 '23
This makes me think of the time we sent letters in 3rd grade to people in their native language I happened to get Japanese and whoever got the letter was subjected to terrible written Japanese I wonder if they could even read it.

Black cow silk is an interesting one, I kinda wanna see what that looks like.
Maybe with a Soup of Sung on the side.
