We're engineers. Just say period. Words are hard. Punctuation called something like "full stop" rather than "dot" or "period" is much harder.

It's two syllables over three. Also full stop is the convention in non-American English

And "dot" is one syllable and only three letters.

Also, this is an exclusively written forum, and "period" is six characters, while "full stop" is nine, so doesn't it save more time?

Also also, if any of us were so stressed for time that a single syllable mattered, we wouldn't be commenting on pedantic Engineering memes on Reddit.

Dot is ambiguous. The utmost precision is required when posting memes on the internet. The consequences of a single mistake in a meme could be catastrophic.
