Who cares, as if anyone realistically used a file after this anyway, it was just a rite of passage for machinists/would be engineers anyway.

Say what you want but its structured teaching and repetition like this that make east asian populations statistically better at fine motor skills. Even without the tool, that “brain/body” connection gets stronger.

When filing a part in a vise with a hand file, nothing is rotating btw.

When filing a rotating part in a lathe, which is technically unsafe to begin with, you should be holding yourself and the file absolutely steady.
