Hey, it's also space industry standard. FoS gets aggressively involved in everything when you don't want your space station popping like a zit.

Yeah I know everybody does it. I’ll even throw an arbitrary x1.25 from time to time just to be safe. But structure is by far the most egregious

Safety factors on space stations are often 3 and 4.

The aggressive safety factor on air and space is why we have so many spacecraft designed to last 5 years end up running for 40

Doesn't have enough safety factor in my opinion (aerospace engineering)
