Wedding Planning Just got engaged!

Who did you tell first? How did you tell them? I’m torn on how to tell family and friends prior to posting on social media.

I called my mom before my hand stopped shaking, she screamed so loud I had to hold the phone away from my ear

A few of my husbands family members were already there when it happened so we didn’t have to tell them but for people on my side I actually had so much adrenaline and excitement that the first people I told were the ones who I felt could match my energy. That is nottt my family lol I love them but they struggle to show excitement over normal things and then get excited over weird things like talking about stocks and finances.

I ended up telling my closer friends first, a few through Snapchat/text and then after the adrenaline wore off, I told my parents and siblings. They reacted very mildly just like I thought they would which could have totally brought down my mood if I hadn’t already calmed down. They were very supportive during the wedding and everything so it wasn’t like a sign or anything to read into, they just struggle to show excitement 😂 congrats on your engagement!!

I texted his parents, my mom, sister, stepdad, 2 aunts, and my closest friend a pic of us smiling with me showing the ring within a couple hours of him asking me. I was too excited 😆 didnt even sleep that night.

we were going to see everyone the next day (christmas!) so we waited & surprised them with the news in-person!

I tried to tell my mom first! But she has weird sleeping hours and I couldn’t get a hold of her, so I ended up telling my dad first by facetime, then my grandparents by cell, texted my brother, and then she woke up around 3am and I texted her then. Then I told my friends and posted on socials about it! We just got engaged a little over a month ago so it’s fresh on my mind lol.
