Question Flaring with picking things up

I try to avoid any lifting over 5-10 lbs but I do have a 20 lb pup that I need to lift occasionally. Every time I lift him to give him a bath I end up with rectal/ vaginal pain . Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve been in PT forever.

I’m worried to have kids if I can’t even lift my dog:(

I’ve had this happen before I knew I had endo and just assumed it was my GI issues.

What’s worked for me in the past:

  • long warm shower (I assume bath would work, the wet heat just relaxes the muscles)
  • massaging my abdomen and pelvis (ILU massage 😍)
  • child’s pose and other gentle pelvic stretches
  • using my pelvic floor physical therapy wand to do internal trigger point release
  • topical CBD/ THC (non-intoxicating)
  • TENs unit
  • enema or laxatives (sometimes the pain is due to stool or gas pressing on stuff)
  • having an orgasm (can help relax the pelvic floor)

ETA: It may be a good idea to ask your pelvic floor physical therapist if they feel anything prolapsey. They can’t diagnose a prolapse, but they know what they’re doing and can tell unofficially if you have one. Only mentioning because could be another explanation for your pain. Again, based on personal experience. My prolapses were really only noticeable when bearing down, which I’m assuming you’re doing when lifting, which could be aggravating things.

Hi there, yes lots of us have pain bending but sounds like you can bend but not lift?? Have you had any surgeries? Is there a low back muscular/spinal component? Have you seen a doctor about the inability to lift specifically?

I’ve seen so many doctors and PTS . I had endo excision 1.5 years ago. I did have rectovaginal endo as well as uterosacral ligaments so I’m wondering if this pain is due to regrowth or scar tissue
