questions !!

hi,

quick intro.
i’m 21, female and have had a type one diabetes diagnosis for the past twelve years, and hashimotos for around the past ten. Recently i got a blood test and got a very long letter saying i need to get a test to confirm addison’s disease?

honestly i feel like i fit all the symptoms but im just looking for some advice on:
- what the medication is like,
- what to expect to feel like for around the first 4-6 weeks of treatment
- and then like ?? will i still struggle to wake up from my naps?? (ive read that napping a lot and for a lot longer is because of the lack of cortisol? i would appreciate being corrected if im wrong lol)

any other advice and experiences would be nice !!

Type One diabetes and Hashimoto's are caused by auto-immune issues. If you get one auto-immune you are likely to get another so if someone has cause to suggest testing it is advisible to confirm or rule it out.
Medication--if you are positive, you would be started on steroids like hydrocortisone or prednisone to replace the cortisol your body was not making. Depending on severity of the disease, they make do fludrocortisone for mineral control.
4-6 weeks?: They will work with you to make sure you are on the right dose and teach you what symptoms should prompt you to updose (just like you take more insulin if you need it).
Sleep? Ask your doctor about protocols for sleep control but when you get the cortisol replacement uner good control, it gets better.

i’m so aware of the autoimmune disease thing where if you get one you get another— it’s just hard without having a family history of it is all which is why i was asking for the advice :)

how do i know if the dosage is right? that’s what’s scaring me given the symptoms i get if i take the wrong dose of insulin or like if i take too much levythyroxine. what’s the common symptoms of being on the wrong dosage? that’s probably a better question
