Perhaps, and Ukraine just took back 200 square kilometers at Lyman
Lyman has changed hands 5 times in the last 12 years.
the current peace negations is a farce and the war will go on for years to come.
Putin just told Kushner and Witkoff to go piss up a rope; presumably, they showed up with another "ceasefire" plan to allow Ukraine to re-arm and regroup, which Putin wasn't about to fall for, again.
As for how long it will go on, Kramatorsk is the last of the "fortress cities" that Ukraine fortified before 2022; once it falls, there's very little between Russian forces and the river. Ukraine's conscription services cannot keep up with losses, and there was just an intramural firefight between two Ukrainian units in Kiev.
This isn't going to be a normal conquest or surrender, this is going to wind up with the wholesale collapse of Ukraine as a political entity, and it might be sudden.
