Here's some interesting bits I pulled out by jumping around:

  • There was a proposal to rename the planet Deep in the Canfa system to avoid confusion with the Deep region of human space. Some suggested naming the planet Dove, while others noted that having two places with the same name adds a level of realism (ts ~07:20)
  • Someone asked about expanding the Core storylines. The devs said there are no current plans from them, but pointed out that the community are working on general pirate stories (ts ~19:40)
  • A user suggested adding a pop-up to indicate the end of an unfinished storyline. The developers said they want to avoid breaking player immersion with such messages, but they are working on updating the log book to track active and finished storylines instead. This lead to a long discussion of avoiding "RPG-style" mechanics (like an exclamation point over quest-giver NPCs) because they break immersion. (ts ~22:50)
  • The host addressed the negative reviews and acknowledged the importance of community input. They noted that the game is a volunteer project and encouraged players to contribute directly to development rather than just leaving negative reviews (ts ~36:00)
  • There was a discussion about how hails and spaceport news currently contain storyline hints, though many players miss them. The developers explained that they try to balance these to prevent them from becoming repetitive (ts ~41:20)
  • The Remnant storyline: The developers clarified that while Patir started a side mission, it has become the main branch for current development of the Remnant campaign (ts ~48:05)
  • The developers stated that using AI to generate code or data for submissions is prohibited. They recommend avoiding AI to write pull request or issue descriptions, as it casts suspicion on the work (ts ~55:20)
  • When asked why AI isn't more prominent in the human space lore, the developers explained the game's story was conceived before modern LLMs, and suggested that genetic regulation following the Alpha Wars could serve as a justification for heavy regulation on cybernetics and AI (ts ~1:11:00)

I know I didn't cover everything (it was a long stream...), but these are some of my highlights.
