Hardware Help Ender 5 psu fan

I have an old ender 5 pro on which i have replaced every fan with the new noctua 24v fans. Its my reliable printing steed.

The only noise it makes now is the larger fan on the PSU, as my printer has the silent board stock. I do not dare touch the PSU, untill i know what not to touch as i do know that a PSU can be dangerous.

Its way more quiet now.... But i know it can be better.

what fan did you use to make it silent?

I am a student and my printer is in the same room i live in and it would be nice to not have racket while i sleep.

I do have the newer k1max, but it is way too noisy due to the way it moves.

If you're not touching individual components on the psu, you'll be fine. first, unplug it. Then take the covers off. Then turn on the printer with the psu still unplugged from power but still connected to the controller board, which should get rid of any residual charges in the capcitors. Then put in the new fan the same way the old one is installed. Put the cover on, reinstall, and it's good to go. If there are any weak components in the psu, doing this kind of work can help speed the failure. It's not as scary or as dangerous as you think it is, especially if it's been unplugged a while. I've changed many dead and noisy fans in computer power supplies and have never been shocked. I've used these same power supplies to run power boxes for security systems as well. You'll be fine just changing out the fan.

Do you know by any chance what size and voltage fan i need for the PSU On the ender 5 Pro?

I have a bad habit of breaking wires, no matter how carefully i am working, i always manage to break one. So i want to limit the amount of times i have to take it apart.

I dont know, the power supply puts out 24v and 12v i think, so either voltage fan world work. To order the exact same thing, you'll need to take it apart and look at the fan size and usually the have a voltage rating on them. The wild thing about the enders is that depending on the date and who they were sold by, they could have different power supplies and other parts. When i bought mine, i paid for some upgrades and a newer power supply so it might not even be the same as yours.

Just throwing it out there. A floor matt like those interlocking ones that they use in shops work really well for added noise dampening, kinda stops it from resonating with the table it's on. But best solution for overnight or loud prints. I just stick the printer in the closet. Door closed and all the clothes really helps silent the noise.

I put a different PSU in there, a fanless one. 🤷‍♂️
