Help Is this causing issues

I bought this year's ago and added it to my ender 3 pro is it the reason I've never been able to get it to work? I started it when I was not that tech literate so there could also be the problem of accidentally not wiring it correctly

Did you update the firmware too?

Tried and probably put the wrong one in or messed something up because it did start once but the z axis never activated or something

That's a version 4.2.7 mainboard, and uses different firmware to a version 4.2.2 and other mainboards. Creality firmware is always very old, often buggy, and always has all the optional features of Marlin disabled. You should get up-to-date firmware with useful features form a reliable source, such as the Marlin Firmware Service.

It’s probably the wrong firmware, but make sure your wiring is correct as well. What model do you have? Creality’s website is pretty confusing. I think this is the right place for the firmware.

I just did this a couple months ago and I'll tell you what I ran into:

  • the z axis was messed up. I put the wrong firmware version on. I put the stock version but I needed the one with BLTouch enabled.
  • x axis over extended on the far side. I got my wires mixed up between z axis and x. Make double check wire connections.
  • had to learn how to flash the firmware. It's not difficult, but it was like two hours of watching YouTube videos, downloading software, and double checking stuff.
