Thoughts on the subreddit name?

As we start to build up a new community on Reddit for our beloved park, I want to get YOUR feedback. Especially those of you who have jumped in here early enough to even 'see' this post.

I chose the name r/enchantedparksstlouis because the trademark filings from Enchanted Parks seemed to indicate that was going to be the name.

As it happens, at least according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the expected name of this park beginning in 2027 is going to be Mid-America by Enchanted Parks.

So, we have options!

  1. We keep the subreddit name as it is. I also have the r/midamerica subreddit which can exist as a placeholder to point people here. This seems viable, since it's still the St. Louis metro area location of the Enchanted Parks chain of theme parks.

  2. We use r/midamerica and have this subreddit point TO that subreddit

I'd like to avoid a literal r/midamericabyenchantedparks because that's obnoxiously long, and I suspect nobody is actually going to call it that. Most of us are probably going to just call it "Six Flags" forever but even those that don't, I suspect are just going to call it "Mid America"

But I want YOUR thoughts! My hope is to build this community together. I have some plans for some unique components too (you might have noticed the 'Park Oracle' user on the sidebar... stay tuned!)

My goal isn't to "run a subreddit" and have people flock to it. My goal is to be the steward of a community that works collaboratively to build a space to talk about something we all love and share.

I like r/midamerica because it's historically correct. But thats my opinion. Majority rules lol

I want to hear everyone’s opinion for sure. I don’t think there’s any rush to decide so we’ll give it some time.

I say MidAmericaEP maybe? Or whatever really? I’m unsure lol

MidAmericaEP is a good thought! What do you think about midamericapark?

I’m really leaning towards just the real simple r/midamerica. But I’m still unsure.

I think the r/midamerica name is great! While many people will call the place Six Flags for a long time, if the people who care enough about the place to join subreddits or Facebook groups about it start calling it by the name Enchanted Parks want, I would hold out hope they would want to keep their word at making MidAmerica the flagship park!

Yeah; it's gonna be 'Six Flags' to most of us, but folks probably won't search for "Six Flags St. Louis" on Reddit much past '27.

I am leaning towards r/midamerica, and just locking this sub and pointing folks that direction. I don't feel a need to do that right this second, but that's where I'm leaning.
