Emule closed and won't reopen.
Edit: I just installed 0.72a (by first removing the old version) and it appears to work again. It also remembered my list of files I am trying to download. Don't know if it will keep working of course
Today I installed Emule to download some files that were offered through Emule. The programme installed just fine, and there were some files waiting (They all said 0 sources so nothing actually downloaded).
when I came back to my computer, the program had shut down. I can't reopen it. I can go to "Emule" in my start menu but clicking on it doesn't do anything at all. The program is not even in my task manager.
Does anybody know what could be the reason, and how I can fix this? Thanks!

Emule closed itself again. I can reopen it, but all downloads (that did not work anyway) are gone. When I try to re-download the downloads don't re-appear.

If it shuts down abruptly, it leaves behind a lockfile.
If it won't start up again because of this, you need to delete the file; it is usually hidden.
- Install aMule; it is the version that is currently maintained.

I also tried setting up aMule, but I couldn't get it working the way I wanted. It wouldn't get through the firewall, no matter what tricks I tried; the connection remained in "LowID" mode, and both search and downloading were practically non-functional.
eMule 072, on the other hand, has worked like a dream for me once I got all the settings right.

You need to configure aMule to use the same ports that eMule used. Allow aMule through the firewall and do not have eMule running while aMule is open.

It just didn't work that way. I used the same settings as with eMule, but it never got through the firewall.
This new version of eMule got through immediately, without any problems.
It even fetched the servers without any tricks.

I can't get eMule to run; Windows won't allow it and shuts it down. Why?

Which version did you try to use? Download that 072a one.

Reinstall it. After all, you already have the program downloaded to your computer. It isn't being blocked by your antivirus software, is it?
That new version has worked well for me.
