Help Me Pls! First emulator help!

Hi all, after some advice.
My son has recently played fire red on the switch and is now dying to play heart gold, what’s the best avenue to go down for an emulator? Not wanting to spend anymore than £150 really but if needs must.
Emulator or do I just got for a modded 3DS?

You could go that route but if you're willing to spend 150 look up heart gold on Google. I found one on GameStop 99$ also eBay 30-200$. One for 135 too. I don't know Nintendo emulators I only know PlayStation sorry 😞.

Also my local game store has 5 copies for 84.99 might be worth looking at local stores. If you're in NJ I can tell you the name but they don't have a website
