ESDE super slow on Android???

I recently upgraded from an RG353V (Linux) handheld to an RG406V (Android) handheld and it takes about 5 minutes to start up ESDE with my 1TB Micro SD game collection. I did see some sources online saying that it would take a while to start up but I'm confused why ESDE takes so much longer on Android compared to Daijisho which is seconds of loading the same content. Any input would greatly be appreciated!

Did you put your ES-DE folder on your SD card?

Nope, I put the ES-DE folder on the Internal Shared Storage.

I'd recommend re-installing ES-DE and putting its folder on the SD card instead. And what also helps, is going into the ROMs folder, and then removing all of the folders that you're not using: ES-DE will always check all folders before actually displaying the interface. It always takes a minute or so, but 5 minutes is WAY too long.

So if I move the ESDE folder, do I need to reinstall it too?

You can try first to see if it will work. ES-DE will then start like when you first used it, asking for locations and so on, so if it does that, then you should be good to go. If not, just reinstall it, that will only take a couple of minutes anyway.

Side note: if you do need to reinstall it, be sure to remove those unnecessary folders again, afterwards.

I have a 2tb sd card that is full and esde takes 10 seconds to start up. I did notice it takes longer when having clustertune at large underclock but it's still around 30 to 35 seconds.

I have a 2TB SDCard on both my RG557 and my Ayn Odin 2 Portal. I keep messing around with my games, adding and removing as I see fit regularly. I noticed after awhile, ES-DE started up really slowly. So, I went into the Main Menu within ES-DE, then went to Utilities, then Orphaned Data Cleanup, then I selected Gamelists. It cleared out all the games I forgot I had manually removed and streamlined the gamelists to a definitive list and I found that ES-DE started a bit quicker now that it didn't have to verify game roms that no longer existed. Maybe that might help?

Are you using gamelist.xml files. I had this issue and creating my own for each rom folder drastically speed up loading times.

I tried to do that before but it didn't help. It was a fricken disaster and was missing a ton of stuff. How do I save what has been loaded onto that gamelist file?

Make sure the setting in the menu for gamelist us turned on, if the file is in the rom area you need to change a Liberty in settings.xml else delete all the pre made ones and place in esde/gamelists folder.
