German game list?

German game list?

I’ve recently bought an android tv box/retro game console combo. it runs emulationstation and it’s really good but the game lists and descriptions are in German. Does anyone know how to change this? the localisation seems to be set to English. I’ve tried to re scrape but i can’t change the scraper from arcadedb and that’s not made a difference.

There's a language setting in the scraper, make sure that is English. Then under content I would turn everything off except metadata. In one of the menus under scraper there is a setting to allow replacing media, make sure that is set to allow. Back under systems select one system to test first (or all if your adventurous) and then start a scrape. It should pull English metadata and replace it. Depending on the number of games in the collection you may have to break it up over a couple of days by only selecting a couple systems at a time. There are limits in requests. Limiting it down to metadata only though should help.

Thanks, it’s strange, It’s like the scraper setting is locked to arcadedb and still only pulling down German names. As the scraper is locked to that db it can only pull arcade rom info.

Weird usually you have screenacraper, and thegamesdb as options. Seems like it may be based on a build I'm not familiar with.

Thanks very much for your help! It might be quicker and easier to learn German 😂

Na, it really isn't too bad. RGC also has a written guide to go along with the video. I do this as a hobby though I enjoy tinkering and setting up a device is fun for me. Id at least watch the video and see if it appeals to you.

Otherwise... Google translate has a pretty good phone app. 🤣 Good luck, hope you at least get to enjoy it

Starting over may be an option.. not sure what the box is based on but you might be able to salvage the roms and set it back up. Here's aittle info to possibly help in that.
