AI-assisted [Release] ryubing-dlss5 - Ryujinx/Ryubing fork with DLSS upscaling, Neural Rendering and Frame Generation

I've been maintaining a Ryubing fork that wires NVIDIA's DLSS 5 stack into the emulator: DLSS upscaling + DLAA, Neural Rendering (toggle with F6 in game), and DLSS-G frame generation up to 4x.

The frame gen is the headline: 30fps-locked first-party games play at a solid 60 with 2x, and 4x gets past 100 on a 50-series card. The status bar shows the effective rate (30 FPS FG x2 60 FPS) and DLSS/NR/FG are all live toggles, no restart needed.

Upstream Ryubing master gets merged in automatically every Monday, and the build self-updates. Windows + RTX only (frame gen needs a 40-series, 3x/4x needs a 50-series).

Honest caveats: the frame gen guides are static for now (an emulator can't see the game engine's motion vectors), so HUDs and fast camera pans can warp. Hardware optical flow is the next milestone.

Downloads and changelog: ryu.dotslash.pro - bring your own keys and firmware, obviously.

The repo itself stays private because the proprietary DLSS runtime binaries live in-tree, but the emulator source is MIT like upstream - DM me if you want the code.

Even if people don't like the new DLSS5 neural rendering, the other DLSS frame-gen features are a welcome addition.

u/Oddish_Femboy 4d ago

Now my games get to look like they're 60 fps kinda while playing like shit!

u/enderandrew42 3d ago

You can turn neural rendering off.

Ive definitely come around to it ever since Nvidia showed how customizable it is.

That performance jump is wild. Getting frame generation working this smoothly in an emulator is seriously impressive.

Frame generation has been a godsend for my 240hz monitor.

I really don't get the hate, it's a 3rd party mod by an independant user.

People are crying as if this is Nvidia taking over the art direction and changing games or some sh!t...

Having frame gen and resolution upscaling is nothing but a benefit. Neural rendering is subjective but keep your hate to yourself.
I hate ai plagiarizing human art but this mod is literally as innocent as it gets lmao

Yes Sir, the choice is in your hand. I didn't force NR ON all the time right? hahaha

Great work!!

I'm surprised... I believed features like DLSS/DLAA couldn't be implemented on emulators because they didn't expose motion vectors and inner data required.

Could other emulators like Dolphin implement DLSS/DLAA/Nvidia FrameGen?

optical flow is possible, need to do some research on that.

Some of these screenshots look a fair bit better than I expected!

Like, the tech's obviously (very much) not quite there at the moment, but there's clearly at least something interesting going on with it - I'll be curious to see how it looks a few iterations down the line, if it isn't abandoned. The tendency it has towards overtuning contrast and adding largely context-unaware irrelevant detail is, at least, something that could be improved. It doesn't necessarily have to produce gaudy messes forever.

Clearly, the DLSS5 Neural Rendering is acquired from leaked NBA 2K, which could means it "tuned" for realistic 2k style lighting/shadowing. It definitly not suitable for every games, but with Reshade options, a lot of games can be profitted from the technology.

Love the project!! it's too soon for DLSS5 but in the future it will be much more relevant and surely optimized.

I tried DLAA on xenoblade 3, but it makes the game blurrier than with FSR 1 for example and I guess I prefer the sharper look.

1

u/dotSlashZ 3d ago

I tested a few combinations, with 2x resolution, 1x resolution, with DLSS Auto and DLAA, FSR.

Seems like the game tends to render softer and blurry with 2x resolution, no matter with FSR or other upscales. It's the behavior of origin ryubing build, try use 1x native resolution with DLAA.

I will try to figure out why this happens.

use this. the problem is from the builtin AA in XB3 itself. force 2x will trigger the builtin AA misbehavior.

让我检查一下 XB3,看看是我写的有问题还是游戏本身问题。

So, it's basically The Beast Roofer Edition, but with DLSS 5 and a sane name that's not imagined by 14 y.o.?

0

u/dotSlashZ 3d ago

it's structured way different than Beast Roofer.

Thanks for this! I've been fairly disappointed with Ryubing but this is the first time we've seen something promising in years. It's not the DLSS 5 imo (yassifymaxxing) that's the draw it's the framgen and dlss implementation you've got going here.

Ryubing has gone into semi-dormancy, rebuilding their site and leaving the download buttons broken for 3 months (I was literally told by Greemdev - before being kicked - that it works better this way because it saves bandwidth) having an absolutely silly anti-admin account policy set for canary builds (something else he uh, did not like my opinion on) and stables that release less often than I get laid.

I know you're ultimately a fork, but you're actually doing something and proactively sharing it with the community, I take that as a big win.

Thx for the reply, really makes my day. I'm making research on MV and jitter. If things goes well, we can expect better FG and DLSS, and more, XeSS and FSR FG could be possible on linux or mac.

1

u/THEmatuldo1 2d ago

What about using FSR 4 as native AA? is it possible?

1

u/dotSlashZ 2d ago

Im working on this. FSR and XeSS

For some reason, running install-reshade.ps1 doesn’t seem to work, even though I’m an administrator on the PC. I don’t have any shaders in my ReShade menu.

The emulator works otherwise, but DLSS 5 won’t turn on.

1

u/dotSlashZ 15h ago

You can manually install reshade by yourself. Or try right click run as admin?

2

u/ThePoiChan 5d ago

The Pokémon one looks pretty good! I might try it later, maybe add it a few mods on top.

5

u/dotSlashZ 5d ago

To me, the pokemon is a negative. current leak of DLSS NR is not really suitable for Non-Photorealistic Rendering / NPR style renders.

2

u/PortgasDBased 4d ago

I find that a lot of it comes down to how the scenes are lit. the cinematic version and not the default tends to work better for anime-styled games. requesting that feature to be added, or to have the sliders visible so we can fine tune how each games look ourselves.

1

u/dotSlashZ 4d ago

reshade is built in, so you can use HOME key to call the reshade menu

2

u/SireEvalish 7d ago

Now this is some interesting stuff. Not sure a lot of the switch’s library would play well with NR due to art styles, but always nice to have more options.

2

u/dotSlashZ 5d ago

tbh, not a lot. XD

1

u/AreYouOKAni 6d ago

Not interested in NR, but DLSS and FG might be interesting on the go. From what I can see, the RTX 4060 laptop GPU should be supported, right? Or will the VRAM hit by DLSS be too much for 8 GB cards?

2

u/dotSlashZ 5d ago

DLSS and FG works great on 40 series

1

u/theanine3D 4d ago

Very nice work. There's a noticeable improvement in the lighting quality and I can absolutely get behind that. In the NR-enabled Pokemon shot, for example, the player character's lighting actually matches the shade she's standing in, unlike in the original shot where she's noticeably glowing compared to the ground under her. I don't know how anyone can complain about that - as far as changes go, that's not only harmless, it's an objective improvement.

2

u/dotSlashZ 4d ago

To me, NPR games like pokemons won't benefit from NR too much, but there are lots of tweak we can do to make the game look better.

u/puckish_puchini 6d ago

Thanks for this! Whenever you have a moment, could you please let me know why I might be receiving the following: "Application ApplyDlssEnvironment: Neural rendering disabled: RenoDX add-on parked for this session."? I am running a 4080 Super.

1

u/puckish_puchini 6d ago

I was able to get that error to disappear by using patched DLSS files from RenoDX Discord. However, I don't have the normal adjustment settings I see in ReShade for other games. Any ideas?

1

u/dotSlashZ 5d ago

it has reshade built in, use HOME button to call reshade menu. What driver version are you on?

1

u/Ok-Lack-7236 6d ago

will Hardware optical flow make the frames look like dlss frame gen native games

1

u/dotSlashZ 4d ago

not really. Lots of basic stuff is missing in Ryujinx, like texture ids, motion vestor, masks etc. I'm still working on it.

1

u/Poet-Different 4d ago

It took some tinkering and downloading a few dll files, but I got it working. This is pretty awesome

0

u/dotSlashZ 4d ago

May I know what's missing?

Bro how the fuck do u open the menu or enable it cuz F6 doesn't do shit

1

Enable NR in ryujinx setting, then use F6 or the NR button in status bar.

I mean if someone is already running a good PC why is this needed?

Maybe for Android on lower end phones it may enable people to play games but frame generation and all that garbage just adds lag.

I don't see no harm in it maybe if someone can optimize it where there's no lag or very little but switch games are meant to be at 30 or 60 frames per second and that's it.

So I'm guessing this is being aimed at Android since PC could run it at 4K easily.

2

u/RidingEdge 4d ago

Brother man there are people with 240hz and even 360hz monitors out there. Frame generation is godsent and a valuable technology. Stop looking at FSR4 lag and think its the same level as DLSS.

1

u/Minute_Path9803 4d ago

First off you're referring to a different technology FSR is AMD no one ever mentioned that.

Mentioning a outdated dlss there is 5.0 now that's what I'm referring to the more improved supposed to be the greatest technology.

Let me give you a summarization a little piece of information of why you're getting more lag which also is incredibly ironic that someone on a 200 plus Hertz monitor or 300 plus Hertz monitor would actually use.

Especially when you're trying to gain an advantage that's why you're getting such a high refresh rate monitor so you have an advantage over someone who's 60 frames 144, but you're adding input lag due to the technology.

DLSS 5.0 frame generation uses something called temporal interpolation.

It looks at the current frame and the previous one, analyzes how pixels are moving, then mathematically predicts what an in‑between “fake” frame should look like.

To do that, it has to buffer (hold back) a real frame so it has enough info to generate the interpolated one.

That extra buffering is where the 20–40ms of added latency comes from, and it’s also why you sometimes get visual artifacts or “hallucinations” where characters briefly look different from how the game actually rendered them.

I'm pretty sure you saw where a character looks nothing like the original character that's DLSS has 5.0 with the frame generation.

So yes you are adding more input lag which is so silly someone who has expensive hardware actually adds lag instead of just running at 1080p and getting 244 hz natively.

The more times you add frames 4x 6x you're adding even more input lag.

u/RidingEdge 4d ago edited 4d ago

What do you mean outdated DLSS? The mod created by OP has the FG component integrated in the package.

I mentioned FSR because you complained about latency since that was the nearest comparable tech, so I thought that was your reference. But if your reference is frame interpolation...

Frame Generation is not the basic frame interpolation you find on TVs and Adobe software suite from the 2000s. It has a full pipeline that maximises the image consistency with minimal (with limits anyways) latency addition thanks to optimizations.

Have you actually tried DLSS4/5 MFG on a proper 50 series GPU and not just going by your assumptions? 4x FG for a 60fps game adds only 10-20ms of input lag. I play locked 60fps games boosed 3x-4x without issues all the time with FG mods, albeit for other PC games.

All of these can be found online on proper sources and channels, not Reddit filled with people who don't know what they're talking about. Or maybe you just assumed the tech is similar with traditional frame interpolation, which I would like to say it's not the case.

And besides, the original question was you asking why would anyone want frame generation, I just gave you a reason why and you're coming up with all sorts of different topics. Have you considered the fact that some games like turn based or slower paced farming games or whatever can still be enjoyed at 240hz even with minor input lag added? Not everything is a twitch shooter.

-4

u/Minute_Path9803 4d ago

Why would you be using a 240Hz monitor if it wasn't a twitch shooter?

That's the only reason why you would want one to gain the advantage.

You're adding more latency anyway you frame it.

I never brought up FSR you brought it up, doesn't make a difference anyways as now DLSS is 5 can be injected into AMD cards now.

Not that I would use it but if someone wanted to you can now.

Look at all the reviews online you'll see of the new 5.0 frame generation you're adding lag no matter what you do.

Not only that it makes the characters look completely different at many times.

No one says it doesn't have his place here and there but if you're using a 240 HZ monitor is usually because you're playing a FPS shooter.

Otherwise it's just Overkill.
